Fuel Storage DIY Jerry can holders.

I was just thinking of this and came up with a great idea (if I do say so myself). Just make up the tray (http://www.equipt1.com/h/components.../product/5bd3d59f179c10e63f39e84aa5fbd06e.jpg) and use a regular strap to hold them down. That tray shouldn't cost a whole lot to make (could probably just use scrap?). If you have a welder weld the 4 corners, if not, rivet them. I have a Front Runner rack (cross members run side to side, not front to back) so all I'm going to do is take a piece of flat AL, bend up one end and bolt that to the rack, wedge the cans between the lip on the rack and the bent side of the plate, then ratchet them down with the D-rings tight against the side of the cans (http://www.equipt1.com/h/component/...egory_id,159/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,31/). Will be plenty strong, and won't cost me hardly anything. You would need the full tray since you wouldn't have side support and the cans could just slide sideways.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. I was just going to mount mine straight to the deck of my roof rack, and run straps over the cans.

I'm running into dead ends every where I look for can holders, it seems like everyone is out of stock on the single and double can holders. I also am trying to figure out which cans to go with. Adventure Trailers is now only making can holders that fit CARB compliant cans. Also since I live in Texas (which I guess is CARB compliant) I suppose I will have to buy CARB compliant cans. It doesn't appear that FrontRunner's can holders are designed for the new style cap. Needless to say I wish it were easier to find and buy what I'm looking for!

I have made a few brackets for mine, but I have a problem with them wearing the paint off my cans, is there some sort of rubber or foam in production can holders? I know this wouldnt be a problem for the sceptors

i made this when i was running dual cans, its an angle iron base, a length of all thread runs through the handles and ties the straps in at the top, locking the cans in place for no vibes, no paint wear and no movement at all.
it could be made for lay down storage easy enough,,, since this pic i have cut the carrier in half and welded each half to my trailer for carrying the cans on either side, still works like a champ.
