Full size RR transmission filter change

Quick question on the full size range rover 2006 and newer (2008 in particular) is the transmission filter/pan replacement the same process as the LR3 and RRS? Basically does the engine have to be raised like the LR3's to remove the integrated pan/filter combo?

No. It is a very easy job on the Range Rover. You may have to remove the transfer case cradle (6 bolts) but I can't remember for sure... It's been a couple years.

Sweet! MY wife found an 08 full size (I was pulling for the full size over the sport because I would prefer that as my hand me down...and because it is a dream car for me :) ). We are working towards purchasing it, I am hoping the deal will work out. It has 63K and I would like to do the filter change on it and my LR3 this summer. I was just curious if I needed to do the metal pan swap on it too since lifting the motor etc. is extremely pricey or difficult, depending on if it is DIY or paid service. The bolts etc have me leaning towards paying to have it done since I don't have the same flexibility to recover from an oops...

Yes the small torx bolts that hold the pan in can be fragile if the truck has come from a corrosive environment. I have never had any issue with them but I have heard of many who have. If you have the proper means and feel comfortable refilling the transmission after the service then I think you can do the pan swap yourself.

Congratulations on the 2008 Range Rover by the way it is truly the flagship of the line.
