Full size SUV with best off road chops?

Not sure if it’s apossibility but maybe look into a 3/4-1ton 4x4 van . Plenty of room , lots of towing possibility’s and with the right setup can handle a lot of trails .

The Armadas are crazy cheap thats for sure. The V8 is solid and the old AT is decent. For the cheap pricing its a good value. They aren’t as roomy regarding length compared to the others.
You're right. I find they are in between the Expedition / EL and Tahoe / Suburban for size. Def more room behind the 3rd row in a EL or Suburban.

OP is in Michigan, so he won’t find much up there that is not hammered with rust, etc.

However, let me look down here in the south. Give me a bit.

That’s good thinking.

I’d also encourage looking down here in the dry, desert SW too, especially because prices for rigs also seem to be about the cheapest in the west here.

When I sold my rust free Dodge Sportsmobile Pop Up Van, the buyer flew in from the Chesapeake Bay Area, bought it and then had a fun trip driving it back home.

Soooo, Just another idea.

If the OP is interested, send me a PM with what to look for and I’ll keep my eyes open.

My '01 Tahoe has 298k on the original trans. Dad's '04 Sub has 325k on the original trans. Change the fluid regularly and they will last. Both have been used to tow, Dad has pulled the biggest U-Haul trailer from Seattle to Houston at least 3 times, maybe more...

I grew up in Michigan and you're absolutely right about vehicles being absolutely ravaged by salt and rust up there, luckily I left 20+ years ago and never looked back, for that reason and many more. If I lived there and was looking used I'd definitely look to the South, either east or west...a fly and drive or shipping it in would absolutely be worth it. I just sold a 1995 Chevrolet K1500 I bought down here in North Carolina a few years ago and it has always been a southern truck and it has absolutely zero rust, that same truck in Michigan would have been rusted beyond belief!

My 06 2500 suburban has 237k on the original drivetrain excluding the transfercase that I changed at 225k due to a hole in the case. It’s been most excellent on and off road. We’ve had it in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado and I haven’t had any complaints. Took the 99 1500 I had years ago from Leadville to Aspen off pavement and it did very well.
