Did you spray the herculiner or roll it on? Any tips, I'm about to do this on my 60 as well.

Fun with military tires on an 80...

I let it all dry overnight.
I was a little worried since we are having some "Winds of DOOM!" out here in Northern AZ that there might be junk stuck in the liner. It was tacky like tar last night, but only 1 mosquito sized green bug that easily fell off.
The stuff is like rough sandpaper now, so I can just file down the bushes on the trails.
I bought the kit for $89 at Autozone. Its a 1 gallon can of Herculiner with 1 paint brush a roller and 2 roller pads. The rollers give it a nice texture and its quite easy...no overspray to worry about and extra masking to try to prevent it.
On IH8MUD, I guess the "proper" way to fill the holes is to weld them shut and grind, sand, fill, prime, sand, etc...
There are like 50 holes per side. I don't see this stuff coming off anytime this century, and all that work to just get rolled over with herculiner - I think it would be a huge waste of time. If you were planning to remove the flares and then have the vehicle PAINTED, I could see the "proper" technique being used.

What a great look for $89! That is sweet. I wonder how durable? (Compared to Rhino, etc)

lol...I put tire shine stuff on all all of my tires.
Not for the super shiny look as that fades with the dust blowing around or driving for 5 minutes...but because I park outside in the glaring sun all day.
It ends up working like sunblock instead of drying out and cracking the tires.

Dude, military tires are made to sit and rot for 30 years and keep going! Just ask my buddy that just bought a M35 with NDT's on it from the 60's and drove it home! lol

That 80 looks good. I like the fender liner as well.
Have you cut back the firewall/inner tub to make the tires fit better yet? Seems that would be a logical choice before you lift anymore.
With some Longfield FJ80s birfields and inners, you shouldnt have any problems running those tires, even with lockers and that heavy rig.
