I kept banging my knuckles on the floorpan when I installed my DPG skid. I even had a new bit that was suposed to be stong enough for concrete.

That tomken skid wouldn't be too bad if it had more mounting points, extra bent reinforcement along the rearward edges and filled in the cat cut-out.

I'd think it could be bent along the rear fairly easily and having only 5 mounting points seems a bit scarce.

Pretty basic, but cheap enough for sure.

Speaking of exhaust, I replaced my muffler recently with a Borla exhaust as I was curious to see what, if any, sound and fuel/power improvements I might see. Usually Borla exhausts are reserved for 8-cylinder engines to give a more "throaty" sound and add some fuel/power improvements and I have to say, my 4.0L inline 6 definitely sounds more like a V8 without the fuel expense of that engine platform.

As for fuel/power improvements, I doubt there are any and if there are, they are negligible. Anyways, just a short thought on this since I see the topic of exhaust has come up.

Yep- the factory mufflers are HUGE. Even an '01 model is 8 years old, so many of those old things need to be replaced anyway by now.

There are a number of smaller, more efficient units out there.

I also had our exhaust shop replace that section of pipe that bends under the engine with a larger piece that wasn't bent so tightly like the factory unit.
That piece made a nice difference in sound and response as the factory piece is almost bent half way shut...

I'm almost done drilling, but I can't get through the inner side of the framerail, for the frontmost holes. The other holes worked fine once I started using Tap-Ease and the drill that fits without a right angle adapter.

It's like they used a completely different material for this one part of the framerail. I think that hard stuff that was coming out as powder must be the culprit here.

:sombrero: Just a thought, since you've already drilled thru the steel of the frame---

GET A LONG PUNCH AND SMALL SLEDGE AND --drive/fracture THRU THAT CERAMIC MAT'L, STOP TRYING TO DRILL IT !!

I've drilled through the stuff, and on this particular hole it was really easy. But I think there might be a thin tough layer on the steel.
