Fuso All Aluminum Flatbed (Trayback) body

I noticed that Highway Products is now producing an aluminum flatbed (Trayback) for the Fuso.
(They have always made custom beds to order/request)

http://www.800toolbox.com/flatbeds/flatbeds.htm

Newly introduced Mitsubishi Fuso 4x4 Truck. This custom aluminum flatbed was designed just for the Fuso and is large enough to carry four pallets of cargo with a huge storage box to keep your expensive tools dry and safe. A bonus basket on top of the tool box works great for shovels, other tools, loose sacks of grain, etc. However, like all our products, this aluminum flatbed can be customized to your liking.

A huge cross-box to carry valuable cargo needing lock and key security which can be divided, drawers added, shelves....

Don't need a box? Want a bigger Box? Tell us what you want, we'll build it

Tray looks good, I would have bought one of those if they made them at the time........ looking at that truck in the pic, it looks like it has a secondary fuel tank on the drivers side, wonder whats up with that, also price and weight of the tray, any ideas?

Hi Westyss......that is the standard 100litre fuel tank and original location for the FGB 71 model. They are a real pain to shift too.

Whats odd about it is I thought that this was a US company with a North American FUSO FG which should have the tank on the other side? Is this picture from Oz??

Answered my own question by looking at new trucks for sale, and yup, fuel tank on the left side.

Hi Andrew.

Apologies.....I only looked at the pic on my phone and cause it was on the left side thought it was just the same as the Australian model......it does appear round, doesn't it? You are right....ours have a small square tank with the fuel pick up, return and sender incorporated into the one big fitting. I should have looked closer before posting that.

Actually we shift them over to the right hand side anyway and even move the fuel filler neck to suit .

Thanks for the tour on Tuesday night......very neat work. Would like to have had more time to have a closer look at your own truck ....and how you plan to fit the 20" s on.....just remember what we had to do to fit the XML's....

Regards John

yea thats the one. have you guys done different tanks on a fgb yet? that must be a bit more tricky than the old trucks.

yea no worries. was a pleasure having you round. glad you liked our meeting too ;)
the 335s are going to be a mission. as i knew all along- an experiment. the drag link is gonna have to be changed, to one with a bigger kink to clear at full left lock. i wont clog this thread, but what i will do is post some more pics in the thread i started about it several months ago.

Fuel Tank

It looks like on the 'new' Fusos they had to swap the fuel tank to the left side with all the pollution control monkey motion stuff that was added to the right side.

It is amazing how much room a 'round' (cylindrical) tank takes up. The second fuel tank I'm adding off my Iveco which is 10% larger takes up so much less frame space since it is a rectangle.
I guess most trucks use the cylindrical tanks just because of cost and 'normal' trucks (non-expo) don't care about frame real estate.

Yeah....there is more gear on the USA version though....is that an Adblue tank behind the exhaust system??? We don't get that. We can still fit the fuel tank in on the right hand side if we need to.

Meeting was like a rally!!!

Haven't done any different tanks but have swapped about 50 or more over from left to right and we move the fillers to the back end of the tank too....don't ask!!!

Yeah....new drag link might be the way to go.....if you need to lift the suspension even higher, then get the pitman arm in the middle of it's sweep and with the wheels straight ahead work out the new length cause you might need to make it a little longer. You might as well make it perfect if you are going to all that trouble. With XMLs they just hit on the link at full left lock but you can adjust it out on the steering stop.....new link is best. Easy to do but make sure the guy welding it knows his stuff.

Yes. According the 'official' Fuso/Canter website (yup they are finally calling them Canter in the US) They are now using BlueTec*

* BlueTec is Daimler AG's marketing name for engines equipped with advanced NOx reducing technology for vehicle emissions control in diesel-powered vehicles. The technology in BlueTec vehicles includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that uses diesel exhaust fluid, and a system of NOx Adsorbers the automaker calls DeNOx, which uses an oxidizing catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter combined with other NOx reducing systems
