FUSO FG Seats?

Does seem to be quite limited. I am still looking for options and not 100% convinced the stratos are the ducks nuts after a recent look into these.

We plan on putting in a set of modified Recaro's. They won't have a suspension mount, but we figure a comfortable seat that fits us well is better than the Stratos which has the suspension but we dislike. I could live with the standard drivers seat, but no way Heather could live with the bench seat for more than a few hours.

weve got a kick *** truck wreckers over here
i went for a stroll through his warehouse and found a passenger seat from a late model 12 ton truck
brand new, passenger seats dont get used that much in commercial vehicles
comfy as (better than the bench anyway) add a set of sheepskin seat covers and you cant tell the difference

I managed to sit for a bit in Howard70's EC, with a Stratos. Interesting that it doesn't have that much travel...no where near as much as the National base does. It would be interesting to take the differently equipped trucks across the same section of rough track and see how they perform.

Interesting that it doesn't have that much travel...

To be honest, I have never had an issue with that. The travel is more than sufficient to take out those sharp bumps and if adjusted correctly they do not bottom out.
As I see it... suspension seats with a lot of travel are worse, as you are always floating up and down, which is something I do not actually like. The Stratos has enough movement to do the job without losing a feel for the terrain you are driving on.
Having said that, I still think that they are a crappy, overpriced seat, but they are slightly better than the OEM seats.
For me, there is no comparison between the Stratos and a Recaro when it comes to comfort and build quality. Unfortunately, Recaro does not do a suspension seat. Sigh....

IMHO, there is no need for an air ride seat in a cab over truck. In fact, I hate the way air ride seats "ride". I feel like I am on a bungee cord or a bouncy house. A properly tuned one with a damper would be a huge improvement, but I must imagine those are even more ridiculously priced, if even a monster were to exist.

I have formulated a plan to build a suspened base at a friend's metal fab shop and use an adjustable shock from the rear of a full suspension mountain bike. They can be had in air or coil-over, with plenty of adjustments.

The simpler solution and what I have done in the mean time (read: most likely permanent) is to spend some time in a wrecking yard and find a seat that you like. You could also take a page from the rock crawlers book and use a suspension seat like Mastercraft or PRP. They are very comfortable to trail ride in all day, crawling over rocks the size of a Mini Cooper and riding through the desert in the fast whoops, etc. No need to re-invent the wheel.

Here are some mock-ups that I did. One seat is from an E24 BMW (rear seat, SUPER comfy, but can be expensive and somewhat difficult to find.) Second seat came from a Toyota sports car of some kind, maybe MR2 or Celica GT. Toyota usually has pretty comfy seats. Honda sport seats are comfy to me as well. I have driven 28 hours straight in them with little to no fatigue.

These were mockup pics for level, proper height in cab, etc. Factory brackets were cut off and a simple L bracket was made to match the holes in the Fuso floor. Thread bolts back in and done. Adjustable for height, slide and tilt and significant improvement over the awful factory seats. At the end of the day, you are sitting over the front axle, so seats are only going to do so much. Proper suspension tuning (no $7,000 leaf springs required), along with good shocks and correct tire pressure for your driiving and terrain will go a long way towards improving the ride.

You mean a seat base like this with a dampener? About 4 bills would get you a new one. Not that pricy.

A bit hacked to get it in, but yeah that's one of them.

3" of travel (only), but it's nice to be able to dial in anything from no travel to full travel, depending on what kind of a surface you're on.

I am always looking for alternatives to my Stratos seats. Being able to choose the seat and base separately is preferable, as you stand a much better chance of getting something that works for you.
Can you give us a link to this suspension base?

Look up nationalseating.com, and it's the model 97 seat base. Looking over past thread posts, about $290USD

I have stumbled across this while researching builds and not sure where it may lead but others may be know more than me.

Looks like this European company got the seats to fit the Fuso.

If you do get those, or find out more about them, please post up. Years ago when I had my last mog, I had Isri seats in it, sourced from a bus. Awesome seats! Paid $35 or so, bought new they're really expensive. But terrific seats. No leather option available either, from what I remember.

Nice looking seat. I have Isri in a u500 and they are a nice seat but expensive. It looks like the roof is cut out in that picture so not sure if there is a height issue or not.
