FYI: Jerry Cans at Harbor Freight

Just to let you guys know they are now selling the metal jerry cans once again. Not sure if the caps/filler necks are the same because I didn't get the chance to see them before. The ones they have now use plastic lids with the annoying little child safety lock thing. The cans seem to be of decent quality though. If I could find some different lids they might be the ticket.

And sorry to dredge up this old thread, but no use in making a new one...

I was shopping there for some "C" clamps and saw two of them on a bottom shelf and no more. I saw the price lowered to $30.00 and grabbed both. What a deal, right place at the right time. You know they would sell thousands more if they just sold them that cheap all the time.

Here are a couple of pic of the last two they had at our harbor frieght in Wichta Falls, TX:

Sorry about the last picture being bad. I was trying to get a closeup, but the camera was not set up for close up.

The quality is fair, not as good as the heavy duty Jerry cans (second to last picture on the left) I got several years ago from somewhere...I think Wal-Mart, or maybe Academy Sports.

But for $30.00 it will hold gas and is vented to prevent pressure buildup. And it actually has a nozzle that will fit unleaded gas tank openings...my old ones don't.

My only problem with those are the nozzles.Frustratingly slow to empty. I'd rather use syphon tubes.

Fortunately a siphon doesn't need to fit snugly in order to work well. They just need to stay in place so they can suck out the fuel.:ylsmoke: The best part is, as long as the gas can is above the tank, it will pour in fine and you don't need to hold the gas can in one spot while gas pours into the tank. Been there, done that, got the tshirt & paint scratches around the gas tank door.:bike_rider:

i'll second that. a safety siphon will empty a gerry can far faster than pouring and will get more fuel out of the can than pouring out their poor little spouts will. plus, you don't have to lug the can if you set it up right

If these are in fact the blitz carb approved cans they do have a reputation for leaking out the spout while pouring.
