Just in case you missed the news - Apple released the iPhone today - pending FCC blessings. Has iTunes, full blown OS X, 3 megapixel camera, no buttons - just a very large touch screen, does iSync, calendar etc. Two models 4 gig and 8 gig for around $499. USD

Check the link below and you will see that this is SOOOO much more than a Blackberry, which I am in love with, BTW. It will be very interesting to see how the price of cell phones is affected by this. I was shopping a Sony K790i last night that is in this price range. With Apples history of quality products, this just might have a very dramatic impact on the cell phone price market.

Check it out:

The phone is incredible, but for me the big thing is the technology that has gone into the touch screen. If it operates the way they describe, it truly is a revolution and huge advancement in human/computer interface.

The touch screen technology not only recognizes human fingers correctly, but it actually recognizes simultaneous movements. This technology, once people pay Apple to use their patents, will flow through to all kinds of devices including tablet Macs and even GPS untils.

This may be the start of two old timers - the keyboard and mouse - the mouse being another invention of Apple.

On my MacbookPro the track pad if used with two fingers turns into a scroll tool with one finger just a mouse/curser pointer - once I got used to it I miss it on my other powerbooks.

The only downside thing I see ( HW wise) is a dirty scratched screen that might not look to good over time

...I dig the landscape spin

This new touchpad takes that to the next level. One of the examples they used was with pics: tap a finger on a pic to view it. Then hold two fingers (like index and ring finger) and then drag them apart - it will zoom the pic. The reverse works to make a pic smaller.

For corporate users, this might be of interest though:
