GAP Tool Procedure for Parking Assist Light and Horn (Confirmed)

This may be known info for some, but definitely not all as nobody could get me the final answer, including GAP on the first two tries.

If you are running TPMS and want to keep it, this is the only way to silence the horn and shut the light off.

Here is the procedure to remove the horn, faults, etc... for anyone running harnesses disconnected for aftermarket bumpers with no sensors, broken wiring, failed sensors, etc... If you do not deconfigure in the CCF and disconnect the ECU, the horn will sound with a fault light anytime you put your vehicle in reverse.

1) Disconnect the battery
2) Remove lower left passenger seat belt bolt. Not required but makes it easier.
3) Remove left side cargo interior panel screw
*There is one screw under the cap and the rest are clips.
*Pull the screw and lift up after you move the door seal out of the way.
4) disconnect 3 x connectors from ECU
5) Cap off connectors
6) Connect battery
7) Configure GAP for not installed.
8) Put it all back together
9) Enjoy no more beeping and this does not change anything with a functioning TPMS system, only turns off your parking assist completely.

Here is the location of the Parking Aid ECU. I dielectric greased the connectors on the harness and ECU. Then I bagged them up and tied them away as there is condesation in that panel from the rear AC unit.

NOTE: Fuse #36 (5 amp) in the glove box links both TPMS and Parking Assist. Simply pulling the fuse and deconfiguring the Parking Aid in the CCF will shut off the Parking Assist light and horn, however will now cause a TPMS failure as the fuse is not installed. GAP will not support a configuration change of the TPMS with that fuse removed as it is constantly connecting to the TPMS sensors in the wheels which will cause the configuration change to fail mid-cycle (I confirmed this four times).

For those of you running different tire set-ups with no TPMS sensors installed, it is possible to deconfigure the TPMS and Parking assist with FUSE #36 in the passenger side glove box at the same time without having to physically disconnect the ECUs. This option could make it less intrusive to swap tires without having to open up the headliner and cargo panels to unplug ECUs in a more permanent fashion. Run a deconfigure of both systems in CCF with your GAP Tool AFTER disconnect the battery and pull Fuse #36 (5 amp) in the glove box; reconnect the battery, run the config change and go. This will only work if your TPMS sensors are removed from the wheels as they are Bluetooth and always searching so there is no way to turn them off. I have not confirmed the TPMS portion just yet, but in theory this should work. I will update this when I put the 17" wheels on as I do not plan to run TPMS sensors on those wheels.

What is required to remove the top and side panels that cover the rear A/c unit? Do you pull, push or slide????

Around the LEFT HAND PASSENGER 2nd row seat, there is a D shaped plug on the angle area behind the passenger door.

That plug needs to be pulled off and it exposes the screw that holds it on. It is a Phillips Screw, fairly large. Once that screw is out, flip the seat forward and pull the door seal out of the way. The seal is held on with a lip so it pulls away fairly easily, just be careful with it.

The panel then lifts up and forward. Pop the forward floor section out from the kick panel and then do the same on the far back bottom near the tailgate. Then lift up straight up and then slightly forward and the panel will come right out.

If you can't get it, let me know and I'll make a video for you since my panel is already out.

I have one wheel without a TPMS sensor, as I have tried three different ones and couldn't get it to work. First two didn't connect, and the third wouldn't hold air in the wheel.

So my TPMS never worked after my tire replacement. Even the tires with sensors wouldn't tell me what was going on, as the fault of not having one sensor seemed to override everything else. Finally I just used my GAP tool to turn it off. The procedure scared the crap out of me. The lights flashed and then everything turned off like a fuse had blown, but then it all came back and the TPMS just doesn't come on anymore.

Thanks for showing how to remove that panel. I want to install some quick fists on that panel to hold an axe.

That's interesting. That confirms that shutting TPMS off is as easy as a CCF on GAP. Good to know as my second set of rubber will most likely not have TPMS sensors.
