Expedition Leader
I would like to put a bigger gas tank in my Kj. Is this something that would have to be custom made?:smiley_drive:
how about a roofrack for the jerry cans?
seems to be the cheapest and easiest idea. (i personally don't like the cans inside the rig - but i also sleep inside)
regarding being top heavy - because that always comes up:
i'd ignore that factor! most expedition-guys NEVER get into a situation where that is an issue. believe me, i have done extreme trails with my rig when on tour and it's hardly ever an issue. i rolled mine twice, yes, but i haven't seen anybody else doing hard-core rock crawling on a longterm trip. most expedition rigs wouldn't be able to do hard-core trails - they are built for a different purpose...:ylsmoke:
also, i decided on cans on the new rig as well. most of the time you don't need the long range (in everyday life) and if you leave one tank empty most of the time, it's likely that rust develops. (at least in a climate like germany)
Any rack suggestions? I was thinking either a baja mule or a defender rack. I like what xxx did for his rack and containers. My Kj only gets about 240 miles to a tank of gas and I believe I have a 19.5 gal tank.:smiley_drive:
i get about 300 on the highway from 20 gallons.
the defender rack is very nice. and not to expensive compared to GOBI.
the mule looks nice as well, and not to bad of a price.
for cans make sure to get NATO style and not american jerry cans. i hate my american jerry cans. they leak and are very slow when filling up a vehicle.
