Where and how would you guys attach a highlift and shovel to the rack on this truck? What else would you do to it?
Gathering opinions for my rack...

That definitely looks like a nice mount, thanks for the input. Anybody ever make something similar from off the shelf home depot stuff?

Another idea is to mount it inside the truck bed. This saves fuel and keeps it out of sight (& out of wandering hands). I know it looks cool outside but ..
A friend mounted his above the wheelwell and below the bed rail using the same mounting that attaches his Leer shell to the bed. I haven't taken a close look but it's definitely stable.

I have a rack that is very similar to yours. I ordered some quick fist clamps from here http://www.sierraexpeditions.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=90 I have an idea for a shovel and axe mounting system using mostly off the shelf stuff from a home improvement big box store. I should have the clamps by friday. I will post pics ASAP after I fab it up this weekend.

Awesome! Pics sound good. I actually picked up some yakima towers and poles on craigslist for cheap the other night. Thinking about ditching the 190 pound lumber rack now that im out of carpentry and going with something more friendly to m ylittle truck 
Well no pics yet I got busy this weekend and did not get any fab time in,.. at least not on my tool/hilift mounts but I will hopefully have some soonish. I got the clamps though and they look like they will do the trick. It all depends on whether or not I get my home made RTT finished. (I need to use it this coming weekend so it has had priority)

Inside the bed (out of the elements) as theMec suggested or I would mount it lenghtwise on one of the lower side tubes of the rack so it wouldn't take up space in the width of the rack or stcik up higher than the main rack (clearance and brush catching issues)

Well, I've decided on some changes. I ended up with a newer raised top shell that has more room inside and nice sliding windows with screens, etc. I also picked up some yakima towers and bars a few days before. I love craigslist! I hope to sell the heavy lumber rack now that I have got out of carpentry and easily cover the cost of the new shell and yakima parts. Then I plan on building a nice full length safari rack for the top of the new shell. The reason I want to mount the seldom used big tools outside is that I sleep in the shell with my dog so there isn't much room I already sleep diagonal since I'm 6'2" and its a 6' bed.
I did end up walking into a four wheel parts store around here the other day and picked up the tube mount for the highlift. It was cheaper than I found online and will work great on the roll cage for my Bronco
