Gauge and HVAC Control Lights are dead

I just read your thread and was about to suggest the radio installers somehow might have screwed up the dimmer circuit since many head units use the dash lighting system to power the deck's lights as well.

So glad to see you've figured it out.

Well, back to this issue, dammit!

Dash lights are out again, ozone smell...something happened.

When I solved this previously, I did not replace the rheostat and I did not wire the CD player straight to the battery.

I've got the correct rheostat ordered, but want some help on the wiring portion.

Which of the two power wires should be going to the battery? I know enough to add an inline fuse close to the battery.

Second, do I extend the ground to the battery as well?

If I do this, do I also run the risk of draining the battery all the time if I do not shut the CD player off?

Thanks,

Gavin
