Hi all,
I spent a few years on a high-angle SAR team back in Colorado, and have some gear that's just been taking up space in the attic. I thought I'd put up a quick post, and if there is interest I'll dig the stuff out of the attic and post some pix.
I titled this as SAR / caving / archaeology gear because most of it is too heavy to be of iterest to the typical mountaineer:
None of the gear has been dropped, but it has seen use. All of it I bought new, so I know the history.
1. Rappel rack.

Great for any rappelling where you may need to add or reduce friction in the middle of a rappel. like a long caving rappel, where the rope weight causes more friction at the beginning than at the end. Or high-angle SAR, rappelling down to a victim, tieing in to them, then continuing the rappel with double the weight.
Also very easy to tie off in the middle of a rappel, since the rack increases friction as you raise the free end of the rope, as opposed to a rescue-8 where you loose friction during a tie-off making it, difficult to hold your spot.
Like-new condition.
2. Pair of Petzel Ascension ascenders. I loaned these to a SAR trainee for a particularly hard exercise, and she wasn't as gear anal as I am, so they got scratched up pretty bad. Still fully functional, just not too pretty.
3. Collection of steel locking 'beaners. I think I have 5. Some have been used for army-style rappelling, which marred the finish a little.
4. Helmet. Don't remember the brand off-hand, maybe a Snowdown Mouldings? White. One size fits all.
5. Two (Alpine Bod?) unpadded harnesses, one Large and one 2X, IIRC. Lg in good shape, 2X like new.
Would like to sell it all as a batch.
So, anyone here want further info?
