as my lighting starts showing up thanx to this awesome THREAD! i am beginning to "design" if you will, my switch panel. well, at least i have been getting more serious about my current and future needs.
as it all stacks up, it would appear i have more switch needs than dash space. add to this that i dont really like having sporadic locations for switches. and am not a fan at all of the center console area. so i think i want a nice clean large panel that will house all switches.
here is what i have so far as needs.
current:
-roof rack work lighting. left, right, and rear facing Blitzpro 6LZ flood lights.
-rear work/reverse/trailer hook up lights. Blitzpro 3LR, one for now, a second later on.
-rear cargo lighting and/or all dome lights. drives me nuts they cant be turned on all together with one switch.
future:
-front fog lights. bumper or grill mount
-front off-road/driving lights. bumper
-FFRM and RFFM work lights under vehicle
-rear locker switch
-front locker switch
-air compressor switch
- thats all i got at this particular juncture
i would like to keep them all together and clean. ive been switch shopping the last few nights and decided on these from OTRATTW.com. i ordered one roof lights, and one back up lights, and 3 chrome single toggles. the plan at the moment is to have the ROOF lights switch feed the toggles, and each toggle control each roof light. the BACK UP switch is obvious. i do plan to run a 5 pin relay for them that will switch them either from the switch or the reverse lights, but not allow back feeding. all switches are back lit, and will be tied to the dash lights.
so far i have decided it would be best to mount them on the ceiling, just rearward of the front most map lights. i have not gotten to measuring the depths of the headliner to see what im working with. hopefully there is enough depth to surface mount a nice piece of aluminum sheet, and have all the switches cut into it, nicely arranged. eventually i will have all the switches the same so it will match. if the depth doesnt work for that, then i will find a good electrical box to extend it out, and find a nice trim for it.
what be the EXPO collective?
