I understand yer dislike of automatics... I prefer manuals myself; probably because I grew up driving nothing else.
That being said, 'modern-day' automatic transmissions have gotten very good at doing what they're supposed to do. True of Mitsubishi's transmissions... probably why their manuals are nearly impossible to find. I've owned a couple of SWB Gen1 Monteros; both 4-cylinder automatics; both with over 175K; both used for on and off-roading. The problems I experienced were found in their underpowered, over-stressed engines… never their transmissions.
Incidentally, the DOHC V6 packed into the 95 you're looking at was one of Mitsubishi's stronger motors.:box:
