Check your local NAPA for part # 134577FHO
Alternator - Remfd - Premium, 140 Amp $197.29

I show over 60 in the system. HO designation is for High Output. Rated output is 140 amps, cold they preform well beyond that. These are the alternators supplied to emergency vehicles.
Beware the "new" alternators. They may be using cheap copied cases that do not fit well. I went through quite a bit of testing and found a genuine Delco case to fit much better and offer better performance.
On a budget you can check the salvage yards for one. They usually run about $50. This older CS144 is going to be harder to find. The newer AD244 is easier to find, but will not fit your application without lots of mounting modifications.

EDIT: Oops. Shipping to Sweden might be a problem. Give Rockauto.com a try.
REMY Part # 91405 More Info Remy Gold
144mm (5 5/8 in.) Diameter Case; 124 Amps $151.89
A little less amperage, and a questionable case? (imported?)
Or maybe this one-
ACDELCO Part # 3342346 More Info {#10463152, 10463242, 19135904, 321443, 321552} 120 AMP GENERATOR,(REMAN) 2 WHEEL DRIVE; DELCO CS144; 120 AMPS $154.79 + $18 core

I have had good luck with NAPA alternators www.napaonline.com other parts stores not so much :(

You should add your location and info to your avatar and profile. How do you like the Suburban these days? I'll bet it gets a lot of attention over there :bike_rider:

What motor is this for? I have a 200amp alternator and high power starter I'm selling if you are interested. I'll sell it cheap!

Careful about amperage ratings on alternators. There is no standardized system for rating output.
Just because it has a big amp stator does not make it a good alternator. Heavy diodes and a good regulator are very important. A regulator with a poor radiator will have huge performance degradation once up to operating temperature, or heaven forbid extreme temperatures. look for lots of thin fins and big cooling systems. Good regulators are getting very hard to find. Older OEM stuff far exceeds the stuff that I am seeing from companies gobbled up almost daily. There are lots of substandard import parts on the market now in what were once reputable suppliers.

Many times a big amp stator will not perform well if the air gap is not good. The armature and stator both need to be a good match. A low quality stator or armature can expand greatly and require greater clearance, thus sacrificing performance. Temperature and rpm play a part in the output. Many of the 120-140 amp alternators will bench over 200 amps cold. the 120 stator is a good workhorse and should serve well.
I tried a 160 amp stator in a CS144 and while it did perform well on the top end, I lost amperage on the bottom. That is where we need it the most. The 120 amp stator was able to put out 100 amps at idle speeds. Bumping the rpm a little with a smaller pulley it did pretty good. I can only relate this to it being a better match for the armature.

Be sure the whole system is up to par. This helps simplify the system: S-10CREWCAB.net-
Lakes , streams and other charging system things

The charging system is only as good as the weakest link and it all needs to work together. A big pump is no good with out big pipes and a lake that they can fill.

I did some very good testing in this thread: S-10CREWCAB.net- Bigger Alternator

You are using the CS144 alternator. Up to 120 amp versions were available OEM. The AD244 is the next generation of that and showed up in the late ninties (1998-2004?). It was available in up to 130 amp version OEM. That is followed by the DR44G alternator in 2005-current model vehicles. It is available in a 145 amp OEM application.
None of these interchange.
Each uses a different regulator connector. The CS144 different mounts. Adapting can be done with some effort, but the gains may not justify the expense.
