To me a good knife can do all of the following


not be easily lost (pocket knife or too small folders)- Knife next best friend to a wife , buddies , car , dog or other valuables things


holds a good edge - at any type of work you use !

is not so expensive - it like hire a prostitute and aspect the same as from a wife


I hate to bang it up or sharpen it myself- sharp knife it like make love to a woman , pleasure's and you see results


feels good in my hand- all good thing mast feel good in a hand :elkgrin:


takes unplanned abuse in stride :ylsmoke:- yes , but careful , good things easy to brake hard to find replaisment


That is about the extent of my "Pro" opinion :elkgrin: Well there may be more but I need to go eat dinner.

For everyday use a semi serrated Benchmade AFCK is nice. For a lot of camping where knives get heavily abused I have a bunch of inexpensive black Gov't contract Camillus K-Bars with parkerized blades.

As much as I like stainless based knive blades, everything that I've read about knife making leans toward carbon steel (and it is debated endlessly).

Jim , Some hay i hate stainless base blade as no way you can trust to that knife , way to easy brake a point , can not use as chop tools , ctr ctr
In my opinion (and i am could be wrong ) knife mast serve true everything , i like Russian titanium special melt with some other crop why da hell know what they add there , they way not cheap only serve true hell

Handle could be made from birch wood /horse hear/cork wood/cork sponge submarine rubber - they not slipped in water / African steel tree/ and some other specified materials what costumer request
