235/85/16 Firestone Destination MT - Long Term Review Update

Took the truck in for oil change and tire rotation. Total miles on the truck: 12,800. Total Miles on the Destination MTs: 11,000

New tread depth: 18/32
Current tread depth: 15/32

So lost 3/32nds in 11k miles. At that rate it will be around 50% tread at 33k miles. Not bad. Best thing about these tires is the lug edges are not rounding off (like the KM2s seem to). Also, the footprint profile is flat. Tread depth is very even. No issues with balancing. Here's a pic of the front and rear tire.

Great build!
I am now rethinking my next tire choice from your input about the 235/85/16 Firestone Destination MTs. I am also amazed at your MPGs.

Took a 4 day Expedition style trip... Drove the historic McGrew Trail (southern Oregon) and enjoyed remote camping for 3 nights. Camped by the water (different locations) each night.

Here's the newest addition. Tested on the trip last weekend. ARB 63 quart Fridge. Wired 2 outlets into the bed with full time power. No more ice chest!!!! Yay!

886 Springs. These are needed with all the weight added. I had to add a trim packer and 1/4 top spacer to the driver side to level it with the passenger side. Lift height is perfect.

I'm curious about this. I have 886 Taco springs on Bilstein 5100s (on my Tundra), and one side of the truck sits 1/2" taller than the other. I looked into the factory springs and see that Toyota has specific driver side and passenger side springs and one is slightly longer than the other. Is this just a Toyota thing? I wonder what the reasoning for this is. Since my shocks are height adjustable, I am considering bumping up the slightly lower side a half inch to level it out.

Nice!

Thanks for the picture. Good to know that the fridge fits under the tool box.

Not to derail the thread but is the carpeting on the boxes on inside of the boxes as well? I ordered mine with just the raw aluminum and it's beginning to stain.

Yes, you are correct. The 886 springs are both the same height... Driver side is heavier so it requires a spacer, longer spring or adjusting shock. This is normal. Gas tank, battery, driver are the major contributors to the lower driver side. Hope that helps. :)

Inside the boxes is just sheet metal. How are yours getting stained?
