Give me some ideas for my 2002 WJ Cherokee

Hello all,
So here is the deal.
My wife has purchased a new car after driving my "hand me down" 2002 Cherokee Overland for the last 4 years. When purchasing her new car they were basically not going to give us anything for the Cherokee. So I am going to keep it.
I bought the vehicle new in 2002 and we now have 300,000+ kms (all highway) on it with no real issues other than regular wear and tear. Engine and drivetrain are still good. Some rust (from road salt) on the body in a few spots. It has been pretty regularly maintained and very reliable.

I am looking at using it for weekends and winter driving . Probably not any serious offroad stuff, but I would like to make it a bit more capable if I do decide to take it on a camping/hunting trip (ie. bumper upgrade, winch, suspension, tires, roof rack, lights, etc.).

I havent seen alot of project 2002 Cherokees (WJ) and I am looking for some ideas/suggestions. I remember seeing a pic of a nice Cherokee in last years SEMA thread. I have attached the picture of the SEMA Cherokee and also a pic of my 2002.

Anyone have any suggestions on some aftermarket suppliers that cater to the WJ Cherokee and that model year?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

I had a combination of OME HD springs with custom spacers and Doetschtec shocks on mine. Netted out to about 3.5" lift. Some Mopar rockrails, skids and 245/75-16 tires completed the vehicle. Worked extremely well together with no rear swaybar and swaybar disconnects up front, tons of flex.

Iron rock offroad...

for suggestions, i would say 4.5-5.5 in lift, clear 33s with no trimming
ARB front bumper, and as much as it burns me to recomend them kenesaw mountain accessories rear bumper.

and then you will have what you are looking for. Let me see if i have a shot of my rig since i finished the bumpers.

There are some really good places to gear-up your WJ...the best I can do is give you the run-down on mine, and if it helps you as much as everyone else's input will too...you'll go crazy wanting to build your WJ up! :sombrero:

Surco Safari Rack
Hella 500 lights (planning on a LightForce upgrade sometime soon)
Iron Rock Off Road 4" suspension lift
Rock Sliders
Aftermarket receiver slide-in spare tire carrier
The all-important Trasharoo!
The Source c02 air tank with ARB tire repair kit
CB Radio (planning on a ham radio upgrade as soon as I study and pass the course!)
31x12.50 BFG AT-TKO's

If yours has the CD changer in the back like mine did...I would strongly recommend going to an mp3 player (or satellite radio). My changer didn't last very long (they don't seem to like washboard trails! :sombrero:). I've already removed the changer, but I'm putting the housing back on it and will use that space for first aid storage.

kenesaw mountain accessories rear bumper.

I saw exactly that some time ago, and how I would really like to have that on mine! I can't complain too much with my cheap deal I found on craigslist for $80 (and talked the guy down to $50) :coffeedrink:
