Give you opinion on two burner stoves...

Don'ty'all ever have efficiency/heat issues with propane in high-alt?

Depends on what you mean by high altitude ;)

I haven't used my century at higher altitudes; however, I've used my Partner Steel at approx. 11,500 ft connected to a bulk container with no issues whatsoever.

I just picked up a Camp Chef All Terrain stove from REI last night. Looks very heavy duty. Best of all, I used a 20% coupon, and a gift card for the entire amount. Hopefully I can get out and use it soon.

my Brunton Duo Range/Grille finally came in at REI today... you can read more about the features here: http://www.brunton.com/product.php?id=617

first impressions are not great... the overall assembly quality is horrible. i couldn't even get the lid open at first becuase it had slipped up under the stove top main body and i had to bang around some to get it open. next the main top wasn't tucked inside some of the slots that hold it down. so i had to take all the screws out, tuck everything in where it was supposed to be and then reassemble. also had several dents and dings in it even though the box it came in was perfect.

overall i still like the size and features and i'm going to test it out this weekend. it lights perfectly well and makes very even flame on propane, didn't have a butane cylinder around to test it with.

going camping this weekend and will use the crap out of it and post back the real world results. no, you shouldn't have to deal with poorly assembled junk at these prices, but in the end if it works well then i'll still keep it!

ended up taking it back. after the first few lights we could never get it to light again without match. also the fitment was so poor that the lid still kept getting wedged on to it so you had to bang it a couple times with your hand to get it open. overall just seemed like for the money a plain old coleman would be a better bet. oh well...

I posted this Sears Hillery one in this thread before.
It is a copy of a Coleman I believe, and it has served me well.

I had thought about the Partners, but I see Camp Chef came out with two new ones.

All Terrain Sport Stove $175.99

Weekender 2 Burner Tabletop Stove $181.99

Neither of these have a piezoelectric built in lighter like my cheap Sears one does.
It would not be hard for them to put one in.

Looks like these two are kind of competing with the Partner ones.
has anyone used one of these new Camp Chef ones?

With all this talk about the old coleman two burner white gas stoves, does anyone happen to know what size/type of o-ring goes on the fuel filler cap? I too have a $5 garage sale stove that I love, but it came missing this o-ring. I can get it to work okay by teflon taping the cap, but I would really like to find a new o-ring.

It's not an O-ring. The old style caps had a replaceable metal insert with a molded in seal. They have changed the design and you can no longer buy just the seal insert. They now sell the whole replacement cap with the seal an integral part of the cap. The last couple I have bought I got at Wal-Mart. As I recall, they're less than $3.

I'm with you...I converted my old 3 burmer Coleman stove AND latern to the propane tree they sell at Walmart. What a pleasure not having to deal with the mess and expense of white gas. I throw a 20lb. cylinder in and go....it'll probably last all year.

Thanks! I will take a look for a new cap.

I have been reading some online reviews of the All Terrain Sport Stove by Camp Chef I posted above, and it is not looking good.
Many have had some problems with them, and say it does not live up to the higher quality of the other bigger Camp Chef models.

I think I will stick with my tried and true Sears stove for another season...

I keep switching back & forth between a Century 2 burner Stainless Propane stove and a Coleman Duel Fuel.
One reason eveyone should have the Coleman Duel Fuel around the house is in case of emergency or such where you need to cook at home (but please do it outside). The ability to use unleaded gas make this stove part of any "being prepared plan".

My only problem with propane stoves is tossing the little green cans. It just doesn't feel right. So I am planning to get a refill valve or set mine up to run off the bigger tanks (which would let me add a lantern & firepit anyway)

Great thread & I like what I am reading from everyone

I'm in the same boat. I don't want to end up throwing away those cans, but I'm not ready to start toting around a large propane cylinder.

Thinking of converting to exhaust pipe cooking! :chef:
