GMC teases with Sierra All-Terrain concept

GMC has created a concept off-road truck that stands a pretty good chance of seeing production. With the Ford Raptor and Dodge Power Wagon attracting floor traffic to showrooms, it seems reasonable for GMC to consider an off-road truck of its own.

The Sierra All-Terrain is an HD version of an overland vehicle, just the ticket for carrying a camper. Payload is 2,700 pounds and towing capacity is 13,000 pounds. Equipment includes

crew cab Sierra 2500 HD pickup
6.6L Duramax diesel with 765 ft-lbs or torque
6 speed Allison automatic trans
locking front and rear differentials
ground clearance increased 3 inches to almost 12 inches
35-inch BF Goodrich KM2 mud terrain tires on 20 inch rims.
longer, stronger control arms
custom Fox off-road shocks
electric disconnects for front stabilizer bar

This show car has an over-the top interior that wouldn't make it to production.

And, please, no whining about independent front suspension. This is an off-road hauler, not a rockhopper.

Sound promising, but I would like to see it offered with an Ex-cab as well.

Maybe that's just me.

Take that GMC emblem off the grille and it would look strikingly similar to a Ford Superduty. Except that someone forgot to attach the bumper. Same with the new Dodge facelift...are the Ford designers abandoning ship and joining GM and Chrysler???

i have a word in on the "facelift" its air-o-matics, them folks in the car industry are trying to turn small houses into fuel saving beasts, its not working, if you dont want to burn the fuel then its simple, dont buy the truck, but for those of us who still have our manhood, i feel take off that bumper that got stolen off a rolls throw a ranch hand on it and put a bowtie instead of the gmc and ill buy it.....in extended cab

Nice. I would be interested in this to replace my Power Wagon. I do so much heavy hauling, that Duramax sounds great to me. Too bad Dodge won't get it's act together and offer a PW with Cummins. Good job GMC.

If this does actually come out in production, I bet it would make the likelyhood of the Power Wagon being offered with the Cummins pretty good.

being built on the 2500HD platform, with the Duramax/Allison combo, i wonder why it has such low payload and tow capacity ratings...
