Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure

Looks a lot like the original Wrangler of the mid-80's!

I saw them on Tire Rack's site. I might give them a try, I'll be needing tires soon!

Looks like obsolete wranglers to me. Unless they're noticeably cheaper than the Duratracs, I don't see the point. I'm sure they're decent street tires. My Duratracs really don't seem to have any disadvantage to the Silent Armors I had.

I broke through some soft and barely wet grass. The Silent Armors packed up and I couldn't clear them. In the same conditions my Duratracs would have flung themselves clean with ease and got me out a lot quicker and really have torn up that field. I had to rock quite a bit with the Silent Armors but they didn't let me down.

Looks like the Wrangler AT/S. Maybe they'll have amazing trail performance, but more than likely they're just another passable Wrangler OEM-style tire. Not a Duratrac competitor.

I'll Bite!

I pulled the trigger on a set today. I will provide updates as to how they work out. Buying tires can be very frustrating, especially after reading the reviews. On guy loves them, the next guy hates them. This said I bought a brand new model considering that no one really agrees on which tire is best. I am hoping that considering the Adventure AT's are a premium tire it should be competitive with any other in its price range. They come in 10 Ply and Kevlar lining. I figure that I spend about 60-70% of my driving on Highway. Serious off road does not appeal to me. ( I just can't afford it ...)

I have had some exposure to the Duratracs mounted on a newer Chev Suburban. Traction was great, road noise was bad, felt like I was riding on ballons at higher speed. Tread wear was not great

I put them on a 1998 Chev Z-71 that is overloaded with a FWC Hawk - This set up is used for camping/overlanding/hunting/fishing

After careful deliberation I decided that the following points were most important:

1. Tire needs to be resistant to flats
2. Service (Free rotations, Balance, and lots of stores through out the area I travel for service)
3. Traction in a variety of conditions. (I live in snow 6 months of the year)
4. Tread wear
5. Ice will always be difficult address with out winter studded tires.
6. Although I do not like to put a price limit on tires, (they are the only thing between you and the road), Fountain Tire had a 3 for 1 deal going.

The new Goodyear Adventure AT's replace the Goodyear Silent Armors of which I was very pleased with. It seems that the SA's were discontinued in my size.

Anyway, I will update accordingly.

I'll be purchasing 5 GY Adventure's this coming Saturday, And will contribute to this thread as well!

In Vermont the roads are of third world quality, be it paved or dirt, I also commute 70+ miles a day to work and home. I'm running on 33-10.5-15 KM 2's, and after four years of use, they're not a tire suited for my needs. I'll be going with the LT31-!0.5-15 pro series, should get better mpg, snow/ice traction, ride quality! Also, I need a tire that fit Ramblinman's requirements as well!

After much research, I decided on the Adventure for strength and traction, plus for a 31" it stands at 30.8, pretty close to a real 31" tire!

They'll be mounted on a '06 TJ-L, RC 2.5 lift, 4.88 r&p, 4.0w/ 42RLE trans

I purchased 5 GY Adventure tires last Saturday, They balanced very well, and after a quick blast on I-89 they were very quite and smooth riding!
Today I went on some dirt roads & two tracks, the Jeep went where I steered it! Very good traction through this rainy day, some mud & leaf slick areas with nary a wheel spin! I'll be updating in the future, after I replace my T-Case chain ( very very Sloppy ) I look forward to better mpg's and traction in the future!IMG_0335.jpgIMG_0336.jpg

Have to keep Duratracs rotated on a regular basis, right air pressure etc I have a set with over 60,000 miles, frind has a set with over 45,000 plus know of several more that have similar milage. Noise is not an issue at all can still talk to everyone in the vehicle in a normal voice. Whoever had them didn't take care of them so yes more noise etc

Anyone know if the non pro LT versions also have the snowflake? GY says only the proLT does but other sources are saying all LT variants have it.

why are good off-road tires in 265/65/17 are so hard to find? They offer the adventure in LT in that size but they aren't the beefier, purportedly snowflake rated "pro"LT.
