The Hero 3 has firmware issues. So it's a throw of the dice if it works out of the box. Read the Amazon reviews. I lost my Hero 2 in Death Valley recently and will be replacing it with a used Hero 2 from eBay or Amazon.
what firmware issues? yes they need to be updated right out of the box but i have not had a single issue with my Hero3 Black. the 2's are good cameras no doubt about it, especially for what they are selling for now.
