If I remember correctly, I spent about $700 on parts, primarily because I tried my best to purchase only parts made in Japan.

The timing belt is every 60,000 miles. I purchased the 2000 with 192,000 miles and the previous owner only remembered having it replaced once. At least now I know it's up to date.

I have the exact same montero (tan instead of white), did you adjust the torsion bars to put on the 33's or did they fit without doing anything?

Thanks for the comments. I didn't adjust the torsion bars, the suspension is all stock. The 33's fit fine.

Nice. What was the donor? Are you going to 4.6 gears?

It came out of a 1999 with 4.27 gears that matches mine. I'm going to start looking for 4.6 gears and see if I can find them for front and rear. I'll install it with stock gearing for now.

ARB Compressor Install

I have given up on locating a factory air pump for the rear locker. I purchased an ARB compressor for an on board air supply and for the rear locker and a future front locker. I found that I could relocate the cruise control and mount the compressor on an extended bracket.

Here is the factory cruise control bracket with the cruise control moved out of the way.

I made a bracket that captures the rear of the compressor mount since the rear bolts can't be accessed once the compressor is in place.

The completed compressor installed with the cruise control relocated.

The included wiring harness made the connections easy. I'm waiting on a switch panel to mount the switches. Next will be the air pressure regulator and the locker install.

Did you try searching on car-part.com for the locker compressor? There are lots of lockers being sold and everyone has the compressor...

I have an air pressure regulator that I will use when I install the locker.

Did you try searching on car-part.com for the locker compressor? There are lots of lockers being sold and everyone has the compressor...

I did a lot of searches and phone calls, but couldn't find the factory compressor. With the ARB compressor I will also be able to inflate tires and install a future front locker. I'm happy with the results.

Time for an update.

I got the rear locker installed and everything is working as planned. One of the good things is that the rear can be locked in 2 or 4 wheel drive.

I used ARB switches for the compressor and locker.

The factory locker only requires about 7psi so I used a pressure regulator.
