Why don't I see tread marks in the snow? I have heard of "tread lightly" but

Oops...

Hijack on:

Personally I think that is a gorgeous 200 series and I'd love to own it! I think there is sooo much win in that set up. For long distance travel with some dirt sprinkled in, that's an amazing ride with a cavernous interior. All that and a deep clean black paint job... I think we can keep the snide comments to yourselves, that's a hot rig: beat the rush, love the 200 series early.

Hijack off.

Oh, there is no hating going on...... just having fun with a random pic, with no outside info or context. I have seen plenty of 4x4's with pristine paint park that way, until the first time they take it out on real trails, where branches scrape you on both sides at the same time, and you either just give up and go enjoy the rest of the adventure, or panic, and repaint when you get back home. I personally actually repaint my sides after extended bushwhacking, but for me it's no problem as I have a custom flat style paint that blends really well. Bought extra paint, just for this scenario, and it only takes about 20 minutes or so to mix the metallic powders, and hardeners, then spray in my spray tent , let harden for a few hours, and good to go again, nobody the wiser.

Living in Washington, you get a ton of snow, and it is really fun driving on it, I know.

To the previous poster, wondering about the lack of tire trail marks, sometimes snow is so packed, and icy that it's hard to see a trail, as you really are driving on white ice chunks, and very hard packed snow.

Just FWI, that doesn't look like a dirt trail to me, but a wide paved road with snow on top, you can see the asphalt through the foreground bit, even a little bit of the snow control gravel dropped on it...... the nearest branches look to be at least 15 feet away down the graded embankment....... I wonder if there are any pics of the LC actually muddy and dirty? Then it would show that the owner really is using the vehicle as it was designed :) Once again no hatin' here, just having fun with random photo posts :)

This could be fun, I'll start
1: parking skills are either really bad or really good....... I think the latter as if he really were trying to see how close he CAN get, it looks like he has a couple of inches he could have shaved

2: I don't think that car has ever or will ever be taken out on an actual dirt trail, where there is the remotest chance of a stray bush branch leaving a nice trail scar on that beautifully polished body..... perhaps that is an answer to item 1:.... maybe he is after all a really great close parker, and parks that way deliberately whenever he can next to a beam, leaving a lot of extra room on the other side to try to avoid any other car and driver from getting too close and leaving a palmprint, oh horror... would explain why he thought it was a good idea to fold his mirrors with a full 3 feet of clearance there....... :)

3:are those fake beadlockers?

I don't know anything about this guy, but I have no problem with someone wanting to take care of their vehicle. I would baby a 200 if I had one.

same here. The reason a lot of our older toyotas are around today is because someone took great care of them early on in life.

That, and Toyota builds a great vehicle! Especially the Land Cruisers. I've been driving them for almost 30 years now, and they are so well designed and over built. And the black 200 that is apparently so controversial? I'd be proud to own it! And yes, I'd take it off road all the time.

#4: that wide a tire is horrid on snow.

Yup SEMA ready!

i dunnknow. ive never driven those, but they may have enough siping. ive found that a tire that packs and floats on top, with siping to get grip without digging in like a true mud tore would, works best. when new, my duratracks stuck like glue to snow, and they are as wide as that.
