True, but that Explorer didn't weigh 8,000 lbs+ with the mass majority of that weight over the front axle either lol. Odds are you'll never put yourself in a position where you'll need it, but then again, $hit happens and there will always be someone else who needs a tug. The old adage of rather have and not need comes to mind in regards to a winch. My biggest complaint is that the mass majority of the bumpers made for these trucks only handle midsize frame winches, that means up to 12,500 lbs and these trucks really should have a large frame 15,000-16,500 lb winch IMHO. 12,500 lbs will work, but when loaded down with gear, people, and fuel, these trucks can be pushing 10,000 lbs and that's pushing the payload capacity of that midsize winch without the use of a snatch block.
