You are setting the bar Greg....you know what I mean. keeps getting better .

Thanks man, I appreciate that. It has been a lot of fun, and some work to get it here. I am just bummed that I hardly get to use it. So busy at work, built 2 new datacenters and in the middle of a BIG production site migration before we close the 3rd DC. Not a lot of free time these days.

Looks awesome! Such a cool trailer.

Yours too (mutual admiration society). lol Thanks man!

I am both happy and sad to report that I am heading out this Friday after work on my first trip of the year with the M101. I have been trying to plan a trip or trips for months now, and it just never works out. My friend Mike and I are headed to a little local site about a 2.5 hour drive away. Lots to explore and see in the area and it is a wilderness site on a nice lake. Only 2 days, but it will be worth it to get away and chill out for a couple of days.

Will post pics, hope it doesnt rain too hard if at all! Now to go find all our camping gear I pulled out of it and put in our other travel trailer?? And the garage....and other places.

Just be sure to post up some pics of the trip. Some of us get to use our toys even less this year then you. :p

Man... what a wet weekend.

So at long last, and over a year since the last time I got out in the trailer, well...I got out in the trailer. Had a fun weekend with a buddy out in the woods, just the 2 of us and our trailers. Mike brought his newly finished (ha ha...finished) Offroad Teardrop he designed and built, and I brought mine. The drive out to the camp spot was horrendous. Torrential rain and it got dark before we got 1/2 way there. Once we arrived it was hard to find a good place to set up, so we grabbed the first spot we came across. It was raining hard when we started setting up, and then it started raining even HARDER...then harder. Ugh I hate setting up camp in the rain.

His was the easier to set up so we did that first, and set up his 10x10 easy up over his kitchen area. Out came the chairs and we had a spot to sit at least. Mine, well we opened up the heavy duty tarp I have and draped it over the covered RTT. I pulled the cover off under the tarp and then we opened it up under there. The best part, the eyelets on the tarp lined up with the bows for the door openings, and anchored the tarp over the tent perfectly! Nice bonus. Once we were all set up and beds made of course, it stopped raining. Made some supper over the open propane campfire and had a few glasses of whiskey and a nice Cuban cigar. Ahhh

Camp setup and site

Mikes sweet Offroad Tear

LOTS of coverage from tarps, awnings and easy ups...and we needed it.

Good ole XJ tow vehicle and all around Jeep Fun

Me and my Partagas Special Edition 2006...fantastic stick

Terrible pic, I think we were both tired and full of Jamesons at this point?

Good times were had by all. Great lake there too, Lizard Lake.

dam rain setups suck big time ..nice spot..was this a pay camp site

Yeah this time it was. We have been sticking to the paid spots the last few years, they are empty this time of year here, and they have toilets. lol This is a wilderness site (Forestry Company managed) and is not like the way more posh Provincial sites with full showers and so on. Also it was Mikes first shakedown trip and we wanted to stick close to the roads in case there were issues with his trailer.

Oh and one spot of good news, we stopped at the Weigh Station on the way home. With my trailer loaded for camping with food, axes, clothes etc (water tank and propane empty however) I was sitting at 630#? Add on water and gas and it should be about 780-800#? The reason I am surprised....the documents rate the CDN M101 at 700# empty?? Not sure how that worked out, but I am SUBSTANTIALLY lighter than I thought. Oh before you ask, this was still attached to the Jeep, so it might weigh a bit more with the tongue weight off the hitch.

Nothing much to report... its cold here this week, was hoping to get out there to tinker a bit on my vacation as it was super war,. Now, not so much. Also I managed to re-tear something in my elbow (golfers elbow/tennis elbow) and it is useless. Of course my right arm too.

Plans for next year:

1. Add a couple of exterior perimeter lights

2. An awning light for over the kitchen

3. Bug screen/Awning tent for over or around the kitchen

4. CVT black bute or possibly another RTT for the XJ (need kid space)

5. Use it more

I am planning on going early in the new year for a trip, maybe end of March so I hope it is nice!! Going to try to get a few local Vancouver Islanders out for this one, maybe an ExPo Weekend on the rock here?? Hmmm.....

Good times.

I'm down for a Van Islander expo, I'm moving out there in less than a month and need to get out and check out what the island has to offer!
