I hope they make it, I know for the initial thought process behind them, NGO's, work and fleet vehicles, the initial price point is hard for those markets to swallow,

Yeah, the average US fleet would rather buy two or three XL F-150's instead of one Grenadier...

Parts choices could also be an exit strategy. IE BMW buys Ineos and runs it like the Mini brand. GM or Ford wouldn’t do that, nor are they really shopping for more brands these days. Toyota isn’t a buyer, they are builders, plus they already have the Land Cruiser market to protect. We see small niche brands build to a point then exit into a larger brand to survive. Rinse and repeat here is my guess….

Ford wouldn't touch it, it directly competes with too many of their existing products.

Really I don't know if anyone really buys brands like that anymore.

I wish them the best, I love the idea. One catch for me is the dealer network leaves A LOT to be desired. Someone posted Costco is selling them now which solves like 1/3 the problem. Still doesn't do much for parts or service... and then the 500lb gorilla in the corner asking if the new company will still be around in 5 years or if you will get stuck with a $100k orphan.

Agreed on the volume of brand aggregation is over. But then if you're BMW how do you grow? It's not like they have a Grenadier in their portfolio. Mercedes has their G Wagon, maybe it gets to compete there? Dunno. Competition is good, this particular vehicle is cool and a real kick in the teeth to the brands that abandoned the farm Ute/off road beast and got soft. Kudos to Ineos for that at least. I too wish them success in their future.

I kinda think everybody abandoned the farm ute type thing.

Several publications are reporting Ineos is laying off workers. Maybe I missed a thread here but I'm surprised there is no discussion regarding this. It'd be a shame if the brand is in trouble.

The brand is in undeniable trouble. The incredible concerns with the reliability of the Gren that typically get glossed over here can be found all round the internet. I'm personally stunned as I expected the B58 to be a dumpster fire, and it hasn't been to date.

Simply put, they are the normal, typical problems you'd find when starting a brand from scratch, but combined with the layoffs, and the never-really-solved maintenance issues, it's no bueno.

This is a really amazing idea that I've never seen floated before, but whatever lux brand wants an aggressive offroader...snatch 'em up. This is a way that the brand can live. Imagine the marketing possibilities for whoever wants it? So, what, BMW? Would a Chinese brand use Ineos as their way in to America?

The BMW B58 might be the best passenger car engine platform of the last 20 years. Not kidding about that. Amazing engine. Sign of the times. This economy sucks. Land Rover is on the rocks too. Best fit would be for BMW to pull off what Volkswagen is doing with the Scout Harvester. They're (BMW) already rumored to be putting out a G Wagon competitor. Match made in heaven.

Yeah, well, Ford owned Land Rover for 10 or 20 years back in the day. Sold ot in 08, 09. Correct, I'm m sure they have no interest in Land Rover or Jag again any time soon
