Grouper's 07 FJC Build

Update 1: I got a deal(free) on a new Foxwing awning that I couldn't pass up. Unfortunately Bajarack doesn't make awning mounts that work with the Foxwing so I did a little research and Fourtreks says they have mounts that will work. I ordered them and both the mounts and the awning should be in this week. I didn't have any intentions on adding an awning and I would have preferred a passenger side mount but I'm not complaining about getting an awesome piece of camping gear like this for free. This will knock over the first in a series of Dominoes relating to rearranging items on my roof rack such as Hi-lift, lights, Maxtracks, CB antenna etc. Pictures to follow once it's all taken care of.

Update 2: I'm sending my truck to Southern Style Speed to have them design, build, and install a custom swing out on my Rocktek rear bumper. I want something to accommodate a tire, a propane tank, a Hi-lift, and water carriers. Hopefully they will be able to retrofit something without it being too complicated.

Update 3: I ordered another CB and coax to replace my broken unit and to move the antenna to the front bumper from the rear. This should help with reception and also enable the new awning to wrap around unobstructed.

Update 4: I still haven't ordered a replacement winch yet :( Everytime I think I have my mind made up on the model I want, something in the back of my head keeps me from moving forward. I have it narrowed down between three intermediate models from Come-Up, Superwinch, and Warn. They are all about the same so it's hard for me to not just go with the cheapest one(Superwinch). I think at this price point the Warn isn't going to be any more reliable than the others but I keep backing out everytime I add one to my cart.

I swapped CBs and moved the antenna from front to rear. I also swapped some of the gear on my roof rack around to allow for the new awning.

I pulled the trigger on a Superwinch to replace the busted badlands winch I currently have mounted. It arrived with a Factor 55 Flatlink and an offset Hawse fairead for the ARB. I also received the Foxwing and scored some Ironman 9" Supernova HIDS. Trying to get it all installed this coming weekend.

I have also decided to shelve the swingout idea for the time being.

The Credible Hulk
Lol, when I have driven out there for the photo op I keep thinking, "what if I get a leg spasm right now"...

I was thinking the same thing when we set up for the shot. It would be a hell of a time to hit the gas instead of brake by mistake.

Doesn't Get Out Enough
It has been a challenge trying to develop a usable storage set up while still retaining the back seat for my kids. Every little bit of space counts.

Amen. It's just me on a daily basis but I occasionally have others in the truck with me so I'm unwilling to give up the versatility of being able to use the back seat if I want/need to.

I've hauled people back 30mi up Padre Island National Seashore to get to cell phone range so they can call friends/family, get parts, even a tow vehicle. Couldn't have done that with the back seat down/covered/removed.

So everything fits within that 39in wide by 25-27ish deep rectangular box behind the back seat or it goes on the hitch carrier because I like what rear visibility the FJC does afford me.

It can be entertaining to hunt for storage gear based on space limitations.
