Habitat Owner's Thread

I succesfuly removed the Nemo tent from the Habitat clam for some deep cleaning. We replaced rivets with nutserts holding the rear aluminum extrusion. While the tent is off, I'm going to be re-sealing everything as living and playing in the snow (and the last three years of Tahoe's rain followed by freezing) isn't easy on seals. The whole process went much smoother than I thought it would. Putting it back on will need an extra set of hands.

Can anyone tell me if the Ridged Ind 50" led light bar and their window mounts will work with the Habitat installed?

if you mean this set up:

When the Habitat top cap folds over, there's about 0.5 inches of clearance off the windshield, and it would stop about mid-way on the light above.

I don't think it will work. Too bad the bracket doesn't seem to allow vertical adjustment - since if it overlaps slightly there's still going to be some crunching sounds the first time...

We have a modification for the Ridgid mount that allows it to work with the Habitat. It involves cutting the bracket and hinging it. I'll post up pictures after I get to the shop this morning.

Martyn, You guys are awesome as always! Are you able to modify brackets and send them out to us (preferred), or is this an example of how we can modify them on our own? Thanks!

Either way Kevin.

Does it work on the J30?

-Dan

The Habitat has built in zippers that the awning attaches to. On the J30 the awning can be attached using the tabs. Probably the best way to do it is to fit Footman Loops to the J30 shell as attachment points.

Thanks for the reply.

Any reason the J30 can't have built in zippers so it attaches the same as the Habitat?

Nemo builds the Habitat tent for AT. Nemo sews in zippers to match up with the awning they also make. You have to ask UMV about the tent they build for the J30.

Dan - I understand Nemo uses a standard YKK zipper on this awning. A strip with a compatible YKK zipper could be sewn up and attached to the J30 so that the AT Overland Habitat Nemo Awning [SUP]TM[/SUP] would be able to be utilized similar to how it works on the J180.

Alternately, we could modify the attachment on the awning to work with regular awning rail, or as Martyn mentioned, you can also use footman loops to hold it, that's what we've done for other similar awnings like the Kelty Car Port.

Hope this helps.
