Yeah, The wheels tires and lift totally trasformed the truck into the vision that i have had in my head all along. Pretty excited today about it.

The truck is already turned up with a denny t fuel pin 75 hp injectors and 4" exhaust. I am going to bump the timing do a 3200 gov spring and probably upgrade to an HE341 or a 351. I already have a full set of guages for it as well, so those need to go on.

Working on gears and lockers now. Probably going to go with 4:10's in the diffs and ARB's front and rear but seriously considering a late model GMC "14 bolt" with discs out back with a limited slip and then do the swap up front to 4:10's and arb.

Need a winch, working on that this week. Probably going with a Warn VR winch since I will rarely need it and I have a handfull of friends that work there. They are a little bit slow but a great bang for the buck. Their 12kVR winch is still a mid frame mount so I will be able to keep the winch nice and low in the bumper and keep good airflow to the radiator and intercooler (hopefully someday the ac condenser as well.

Couple of quick daytime photos before I head off to teach tonight.

It's looking sweet hackster! I still (like Larry) think a short box, or even a mini utility box would be more versatile, but you know your needs and wants best (obviously!).

Larry- if you are looking to build up a Volvo, check out "ipd" in Portland. They are the Volvo performance guys. They are sister companies with Rallytech who deal with Subaru rally cars. Really trick stuff!

Its always dark out now!!!

Got the drivers side all finished up tonight. I trimmed off a little more than an inch all around the fender opening, then took the hammer and dolly and rolled another 1/2" or so all the way around to get a nice even rolled edge.

Trimmed both the front trim piece and the rear trim piece and got the remounted. Also masked off, sanded and sprayed the area that the paint cracked and shot it with some bedliner. The plan is to shoot it with some body color, but its so little that it doesnt look bad.

Also shot a quick photo of the rear crossmember.

Looks great, as always!

Your tailpipe is kind of out there, though. Are you planning on trimming/adjusting your exhaust system back?

Thanks,

The Tailpipe will be modified, just trying to get it on the road to start working out any bugs. On this big of a project you kind of need to get it to the point where it will run stop and turn and then you can work on the other stuff that you want to do. I am actually thinking about modifying the exhaust quite a bit and going out in front of the rear tire but it has its drawbacks too, might end up just straight out the back with a piece of 4".

I also need to install a hitch as well. Planning on running a pintle setup for the camp trailer and a standard setup for the car trailer so I am trying to figure out how to make the hitch not stick down a foot from the rear crossmember.

So I spent almost all day today dealing with a good part of the small stuff.

Made some pretty cool mounts for the 4" led taillights. Then got to wiring them up, should be no bg deal right. Ran into a couple of snags, first was the led conversion box that I bought last night from NAPA was bad, then found that the drivers front turn signal was grounding out and blowing the signal fuse. Finally got it mostly working, have stop, turn and tail lights in the rear and the same in the front except the front marker lights dont flash on the turn.

Finished trimming the passenger side fender scuffed cleaned and put on the bedliner on the lip. Trimmed thefender trim for that side and buttoned up the inner fender as well.

Bolted down all the body mounts and realigned the core support and bolted it down.

Loaded up the tools and a fire extinguisher and took it for a drive!!!! Talk about some anticipation today.

Runs, drives, turns stops and most everything works. Dash lights are a no go and no interior lights either but it is not hooked up so that might be why it does not work.

Only real problem appears to be that the synchros in the tranny might need some help. Still drives ok, just a little tough to downshift from third to second and second to first. First gear is pretty low, I was a bit suprised to be honest. Second gear starts will be the norm.

Truck sounds pretty **************.....got on it a little bit coming back up my street and put a little smile on my face.

Should be able to take some photos of it tomorrow in the daylight. I hope to get the seats mounted tomorrow.

Looking forward to it!! Hopefully all the little stuff (dash lights, etc) will come together quickly and with little trouble. That stuff can drive any sane man crazy!

Thanks, For the most part nothing has been that hard so far. Fixed the wiring issue so all the guages work all the time, just need to work on some dash lights now.

Not a lot of progress today but I was able to get the seats in. Not 100% sure on the position cause they are a little bit high but super comfortable and I can see out of the truck really well.

Seats are awesome. Absolutley no comparison to the corbeaus that I have in the black truck.

Onto some photos.

Also got the rear mud flaps finished up, they are quick release and are super fast to remove with just one pin needed to remove the flap on either side only leaving a small stub of 1.5" dom sticking out of the frame. They fit really well and are tucked up under the bed, hardly noticeable.

Passenger side trim all finished up and bedliner on it. This side still rubs a tiny bit so it needs bit more work but only when backing up and at full lock.

Interior is shaping up, I really like the black on the interior with the tan for some reason. I have the carpet just need to pull the seats out and make a front carpet kit.

and you can see that I still need a drivers side door seal. The previous owner used bath and tub silicone to hold in a generic seal but it was falling of when I got the truck, so I still need that too.
