aye, could add to it, but 6 solid choices
I most like Hagerty because they show the real $$$ value with their picks.

um, yes times 6. I don't really understand how jeep got away with having such badly rotting frames in the TJ without having a recall like the tacoma did. You almost never see them around because of it.

Can't really agree about the 1st gen 4runner. Yes, they were great vehicles - for their time. But the sheet metal was paper thin and the 22r engine could barely get out of its own way. For less money a 2nd gen Montero is 10x the vehicle a 4runner was. More powerful, more comfortable, more capable.

Scouts had problems with the doors rusting to the point they fell off...

AFAIK the Scouts with the bad rust problems were the Scout II's that came out starting in 1971. My brother had one, it was a nice vehicle but man, if you looked at it too hard the rocker panels would just crumble to dust.

My neighbor has an orange 1967 Scout that I'm tempted to acquire from his driveway and attempt to save. It's just sitting there, wasting away, and yes - doors almost rusted off.

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.
Too much rust to find those here. I don’t even see the xj’s around here anymore and rarely a tj.

25 years ago you could get an old Wagoneer for $750 all over the place because nobody wanted them. Now they're considered "collectible" with 5 figure price tags.
25 years ago? Heck, it was like that up until 5 years ago. When I was looking in 2015, there were about 7 within 100 miles of me in running and driving condition for less than $1500. It appears I missed out on an investment opportunity.

I would like to share my personal experience with the scout . 50 years ago my dad owned a snow plow business in Buffalo NY. the truck I plowed with was a Scout . Things I remember ,4 cyl motor was literally a cut in half V8 . 3 speed floor shift trans . Always carry a gallon of body filler and couple cans of gold paint to do weekly rust repairs /fill in the holes .In between front end rebuilds death wobble would get so bad it would pop the doors open on the hy . The round ball socket steering was terrible . O and the time I made a hard left onto a 4 lane road and the passenger door popped open , my older brother came out on the road in traffic on his hands and knees. He never forgave me .

My great-grandfather had a '67 1100 pickup. It didn't really seem to rust any worse than anything else. Some at the rockers behind the front wheels and below the tail lights. Floor went after the window gaskets petrified.

Had a 304 (which is nothing like what you think when you hear of a 302 or 305 half ton pickup) and a 4 speed with 2' shifter throw like a grain truck.

It was a neat pickup, originally a dealer demo truck. He broke the rear axle twice trying to compete with my grandpa's '70 D20 Dodge. I had the same 5x4.5 wheel pattern as my Ranger, I think it was some sort of D44 in the back end (which isn't really a great idea for a half ton pickup)

Well now I am thinking about the Scout ,I think I may have had a bit of a rarity . It was a single cab pickup . If I remember correctly it did not have a separate box ,but part of the body .It had a small removable bolt on top and a steel panel that separated the box from the cab . The box was small, like 4 feet long if that . and yes everything rusted to hell in Buffalo back then .
