The West books are the best, tried both the ARRL and West. West is organized better for taking and passing the test. You can take more than one test at a sitting if you pass the lower level first. I took both the tech and general last Saturday and passed both. Just go though the West books several times and take the online practice test till you feel ready. Now the challenge is the $ for the radios, antennas +.

While it is not a book, I found the Ham Radio Podclass helpful for the Technician and General tests. I have a long commute, so I listened to the classes for a week. http://hamradioclass.com

good job! I am reading the GW book as well and will prob. take my test on the 25th this month. So i've got some time to study. Was it as hard as you thought?

No it was real easy. I just keep taking the practice test and a week before the test I went over Gordon's book and the practice test. Good luck.
