Wow, great progress David. I didn't realize you were going with WVO for the 6.0. I heard it wasn't a great choice for a veggie powered rig but I haven't done any indepth research. I'm curious if it runs quieter on WVO than on diesel. I know my old Landcruiser did.

My buddy Laurentiu already converted a few 6.0 and when done right they love veggie. He converted a truck with the 6.0 couple years ago for some pro-skiers that travel a bunch and their truck is still running strong. As for noise, I can't even tell the difference. My 7.3 was the same, diesel, oil, same same. But that 6.0 is sure quiet compared to the 7.3!!!

I now have good range, 50g of diesel, 50g of veggie (which can be filled with diesel if needed) and I have another 65g tank that will mount on my hitch! So over 160 gallons (600 litres) of awesomeness!

That's awesome! Hopefully I'll get to see it later this summer. I figured if you'd done the research :). That's a lot of range!!! Wow.

Starting on the front bumper this week.

Initial testing done, it will be a fairly easy modification to fit this big F350 bumper onto the Hambo. No cutting required, just need to fab mount extension.

Next on the project list, cab roof rack.

I kept it pretty simple, and a bit overkilled. Now I need to pre-drill the mounting holes, as well as those for the lights and the storage box before sending it over to get powder-coated.

And gotta decide if I paint it black or the same green as the van?

Black would be my choice, but you know the saying "Once you go black....."
If it gets powdercoated your got that right, ain't going back! lol

I'm not rushing on this project, not really a priority at this point but black it will be! I'll finish it in between other projects. Talking about other projects I opted to do my poptop in aluminum. Goal would be to have it done by end of July as I'm taking off for all of August throughout BC in the van...

I also installed a SCT Livewire+, love it and hate it! Love 'cause it's really awesome, all the guages and wakes up the 6.0! But hate it as even though they say it's compatible and pre-loaded with tunes well... not really. You have to pay extra to have a tuner send you tunes at extra cost (and that SCT isn't cheap to start with!). They also say it will adjust your speedo for new tire size. Again, maybe on a truck but no go on the Econoline! My rant...

Cheers

I had the same speedo issue on my 2006 Ambo when converted to 4x4 and running 255/80R17 tires spec'd at 32.8" dia. That caused the speedo to underdisplay by 10%. I had my PCM/TCM reprogrammed to the largest tire size selectable (245/75R16) for my E450 chassis and set the diff gear ratio to 3.73 from actual 4.10. This got the speedo error down to 2%. That was the best workaround I could find.
The SCT Livewire+ is a great piece of tech. I have the more basic SXT x4 to run a custom 40 hp Van tow tune and it surely does enliven the rig. The x4 doesn't have the large display for all the gauges like the Livewire+ so instead I use Torque Pro with a Bluetooth ODB2 dongle to display gauges on an Android head unit.

I had an SCT X3 on my 6.0PSD F350. Tried a few different tuners before found something I and the engine liked. Biggest problem now is support. Most tuners are now either retired or moved on to current iterations of the PSD.

Hey David,

I have been running my Livewire for nearly 5 years. I dig it. I have a 40hp Tow tune from Innovative Diesel and a 60hp Daily from DP Tuner.
Dp Tuner said it was formulated for a van that was in The Cannonball Run a while back. I like them, but will like them better once I go to 4:88's. Which should also get my speedo dialed back in.
I actually, I like the SCT Tow Tune the best, but it doesn't lock the converter at low speeds. I will probably see if Dusty at 1023 Diesel can help me out after the gears. I want to get a trailer similar to yours, and they have more experience at working with tunes for people that deal with climbing/towing extreme grades out in Alaska.
One caveat about the Livewire, is that if it goes without power for too long, it will take a ********. I have twice had to send it in for them to reload it. $100 each time..... Other than that, I love all of the many features. I refuse to use sandpaper on my PCM for a live feed through a chip, so no Hydra for me.... I prefer flash tuning though the OBDII.

Love the bumper!
