The trailer is all stock 1943 Bantam. the trailer was unharmed and the top was designed to not harm the trailer.

Thanks! I have been into Rovers and Jeeps for quite some time. I built that one up over a 2 year period. Arb's, 4.10 gears, I built all of the Bumpers Sliders, and even the roof rack. Hated to sell it but I do Love a project and it was pretty much done. So Have been working on a Jeep CJ7.

This site is AWSOME! Lots of great info. I hope to turn my trailer into more of an expedition stlye trailer. Been reading here for a while and getting ideas together.

You're right this sucker has turned into something quite useful.

Thanks to those who didn't follow the directions . . . "God bless us fools, for screwin' up all the rules."

From my original post:

. . . would you be kind enough to shoot a photo or two or three of how your tent is attached?

Gracias. . .

BTW, the reason I wanted to know how the tents mounted because I've moved to a Yakima load bar system to mount our Eezi-Awn. I knew that AT used similar round bars but I never peeked close at the hardware used. That's why I started this thread. At the time I wasn't sure how I'd get the tent secured.

Like Justin suggested, Yakima makes a clever clamp for such uses ("snaparounds"). Some photos are attached. Worked great.

Obviously, I'm not using a trailer but I knew the solution worked on trailers and I wanted to mimic that.

Psssshhhhht!

I did invite you. It was the night before Father's Day. You were head deep in diapers and doing the new dad thing.

Ahh ha snap arounds I knew it. Thats what I made my hi lift mount out of. Though not having anything to do with trailers I wonder how much of a pia it would be to use this setup on roof mounted bars? Thoe only potential problem I see is getting the hardware through the snapadoo once it's on the roof. Currently I use u bolts to secure it to my yakima bars.

Hi all,

I've really enjoyed reading about and looking at pictures of the expedition trailers. I had never seen the roof-top tents before and they are really neat. They certainly make for a rugged off-road rig.

I would like to share a couple of pictures of the trailer I just finished building. It's not an expedition trailer by any means, but I think it could be classified as an adventure trailer. I'm starting to think of building a smaller, lighter, off-highway, solo trailer. (Stop me before I build again!)

Anyway, here's a couple of pictures of the Desert Dawg. Joanne
