You need to compare the entire lighting system really. I don't believe theyre any brighter based on seeing them side by side but then again I wasnt making an actual lighting comparison at the time.

Thats what I'd do first unless you just want a different looking gen 2.

It also has to do with the reflector shape. You could install relays and a direct hot to the battery. That will get more current directly to the bulb. Also go the 65/80 watt bulbs. I'd be carefull of doing that though. I melted a set of fog lights in a jetta once by putting in 100w bulbs. Id also skip the hid retro kits. The reflector was not designed for that and won't put the light where you want it. You'd just be poking involving drivers in the eye with the extra light. Most just add auxiliary lights to the truck, probably the best route. You can choose lights that fit your needs/ budget.

I currently have one cracked glass lens and really just wanted to know my options when parts shopping. This build will be kept mostly OEM as I don't want to start screwing thing up with cheap Chinese "upgrades" (I have learned my lesson's) but I do not even know if the gen 2.5's are poly instead of glass they just look like it. maybe there is no difference. I do know mine are crap and if I can make a improvement at the same time as I change a part I would like too.
I would like to give the engineers at Mitsubishi credit in saying the newer version should be better......(hopefully).

They may be Poly in the 2.5's. I've never looked at that aspect. Alternatively they do make that 3M tape (clear bra material) which helps protect glass lenses. Just not sure if it's available for Monteros.
