The "Lodge Tent" at Cabelas is $100 down from $250 in the bargain cave on cabelas website. If the quality is ANYTHING like my cabelas Alaknak tent, this is a a smoking deal for a ground tent...check it out. BTW the big discount is only for the small 4 man size...

A friend of mine has one of those - not too impressed with it. But the Cabela's Alaskan Guide tent is a great tent - absolutely waterproof.

I've got an older version of the 4 person Eureka Tetragon tent that I've been very happy with - good performance in downpours and easy to set up.

What about Cabela's Deluxe Backwoods Three-Room Cabin - a deal?

I was about to pull the trigger on the "Lodge Tent" but noticed the Deluxe Backwoods tent is on sale too, marked from $192, from $319.99 to only $127.99. It seems like a roomy tent but with a lot more stakes than the Lodge.

Anyone have experience with the Deluxe Backwoods tent?

I have the Lodge Tent. 12 foot. It is very roomy with the high side walls. No sheild for a stove. It takes alot of stakes to secure it properly. As well as alot of time. But all the stake will allow it to take hurricane winds without a problem. In three trips it has been waterproof. The stakes double the actual footpprint of this tent. If I had a chance to do it all over. I would go with a Canvas Pyramide tent in canvas. Yes it is more money, but it is quicker to set up. just as stable. You can use a stove. I had the canvas tent I am describing and loved it. Someone stoled it in CO. I saw the Lodge Tent set up before I bought one. I did not think the tie out would be a big deal, they are. I would not trust the other Cabelas tent in heavy winds. To many flat sides for the wind to catch. Yes I have had that style and the wind would take it down. Canvas all the way. Get the two door model and you can still get a breeze in summer.

Well, the lodge tent arrived and its not the same material as Cabela's Outfitter series.
For the money, it is a back up tent or one I will use on shorter, dry outings. Capt Eddie, I gotta tell you that I would trust my flat-sided Cabelas's Alaknak (what a goofy name!) tent in a hurricane...with 4 stakes per side and 15 guylines, this thing ain't going anywhere!! The flip side is that it takes me about 30-40 minutes to set up when flying solo so it only comes out on extended trips. It is very dry and I can set up a stove in it. I recently bought a stove for it but have not used it in the tent yet...

I was not meaning the Guide series tents from Cabela. I ment that style. I guess you have not set up the Lodge yet? I think there are 5 tie out per side. Not including the floor stakes. I have seen the $100 walmart family three room tents go down. Not a Alaknak. Cub scout family don't normally send a lot on thier twice a year tents.
