Hella FF Work Lamps

I'm in the market for a work lamp so that I can mount on my rear bumper. Was thinking about the Hella FF work lamp. Any negatives about this lamp? What range did you guys go with? I want to use it to have some lighting in the rear of my rig for setting up camp or whatever. And also as a backup light if need be. I was thinking medium range...

For the price I think that the only thing that can beat it is a HF tractor light. Both spit out light and I think the HF would be hard to beat. The Hella is a nicer light and probably seals better but would cost more to replace if broken on the trail or stolen at the mall (I had some Hella lights stolen on my bumper).

My Sprinter camper has this light, medium range, mounted on the rear roof above the rear doors. One of the better bang-for-buck purchases, to my mind. A wonderful thing to have if you are trying to set up a tent or something else to the aft of you rig and also, as you implied, responsible for a much improved back-up-at-night experience. No downside I can think of, and I would keep the medium range if I had it to do over.

I have a pair of the Hella FF's and they're nice because they are dual element. You can have just one bulb per lamp assembly on, or both. Similar to a high and low beam, really.

How does that work, one bulb on vs. both bulb on? Special switch or something?

I use the Hella Matador Work light and it is great, easy to find replacement bulbs if required and stands up to the abuse of off-roading. Got mine from Sierra Expedition below. I don't see it on their website any longer but he did have them and may still be able to get them. Check them out at www.HellaUSA.com
