Hello Fellow Land Rover Owners

Welcome, and thanks for taking on the awesome responsibility of owning a Land Rover museum piece. Your use is just how I would use one.

Love the Defenders, especially the CTs!

Yes, welcome to the ExPo forum! Some good folks here.

I second (or third) the motion of a full photo spread so those of us who haven't been able to get up close and personal with a CT110 can itch that scratch just a little bit....

Please excuse my semi-hijack and ignorance. What's the bumper on the CT110? I picked up one recently that looks a lot like that but without the brush guard and I've been trying to figure out what it is.

Ronct110, what year is your RRC?

Welcome..

And WOW! that 110 look great..

Ahhh the weekend - finally.

Time to catch up with reading and postings.

Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone: RgrBox, Michael Slade, Connie... and others including folks I know from other forums like jrose69, Revor, astateofmike, and SCRover.

Sweet CT110- I was after it when you bought it, and subsequently sold Mark G. my G4 D-II whom I believe is in your local club. Anyway, just got an '89 CT110 scout truck w/ only 8k on the clock, but sadly it has the 2.5TD, which is a tad anemic. Glad to see you here- great site and great folks- enjoy, and welcome!!

Yes, Mark G is in my club and now has a nice 110 to replace the G4. Mark tells me you collect Land Rovers, and can see just acq an 89 CT110.

Congrats. Hope to check it out, and your other collections one of these days.

uhhh, ummm,:Wow1: uhhhh....welcome!

Now how about a full Roverporn spread on your vehicle inside and out. We finally have access to the real deal:victory:

Thanks overlander; coming soon.

Ummmm....SWEET!

Thanks Michael; saw you in the video "Insearch of the Experience"; great of you to show Elias and his crew around Utah, and you have a nice collection of Land Rovers as well.

CT 110 Tdi. With a 200Tdi and R380, that'd be the best LR ever built. Shame it drives from the wrong side, though.;)

Lol. Feeling is mutal. When I was looking at all the cool CTs RHD prior to getting this 110 LHD, said the same thing.

Enjoyed reading your sub-discussions on this thread re: today's engineering: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34263&page=2

Agree to your point re: lack of maintenance simplicity today; my 110 and RRC are still fairly easy to do DIY maint for the most part (up to my abilities), and can still work my DII, but need tiny hands in some areas e.g. get into the coil pack. Lol.

I don't have an LR3, but I can imagine it being more difficult to do major DIY work e.g. I think you mentioned needing to sep the body from the chasis to change the clutch. Wow.

Anyways, will save the discussion for another day/thread.

Hey Ronct110, were you in Glenwood Spring, CO for the Camel Trophy gathering? There were 2 110's there and I thought they were the only 2 in the U.S. I know a total of 8 folks made it out of the 10-12 (est.) "real" Camel Trophy truck in the US. If not, let Scott at Roaring Fork LR know you have one as he's planning another gathering in the future.

Sorry missed it; No, I was not in Colorado, but I was tempted to when Keith aka Revor brought it to my attention; plus had plans with my wife and two kids already, and couldn't get a kitchen pass.

Ron was not there....once you meet him/see a picture and read some posts/talk to him, he is fairly unforgetable. I saw that write up somewhere too and realized what a bummer he didn't make it...

Oh, hi Ron!

Thanks for representing Mike.

the CT110 is every bit as nice as the pic and extremely capable. ron ain't too shabby either.

Lol. Making me blush in sandglow Mark; good to hear from you hear; hope you can make the Big Island of Hawaii trip w/your family; my family is looking forward to it.

Welcome, and I hate you.:)

Lol. If you are ever in N. Cal and join my club in a run, glad to let you test drive the 110. You will hate me even more. J/k on hating me more. And I am not kidding about the test drive. Cheers and thanks for the welcome!

Exactly James; worked a bit harder this year to acq and build-up an RRC for diff trails use (so I don't damage the CT 110 and want to enjoy/and others for years to come), and we have the 04 DII to rack up miles.

Ok, twist my control arms. Lol. Glad to. Here are a few shots from the last run my club did in Oct (photo taken by another club member Kevin Suttle)

Hey KMW, affirmative on what Stock Tyres said here.

Lots of good info here - I am looking to mix/venture out of local trips and do more cross country, cross-borders and hopefully one of these days cross-continents vehicle dependent trips. Did a bit of backpacking adventures in my younger years inlcuding a trip to the northern part of Thailand (Chaign Mai) one summer living in elephant camps, and another year I missed the Camel Trophy event in Sabah in 93 during my visit in Malaysia - would have been a sight to see a convey of CT trucks (also the 1st year an American teamwon a CT event).

This part of my life - looking to do more vehicle dependent adventures; looks like I found the right forum "Expo".

Cheers!

Hey, Ron, long time no-see. Such a great truck....

Hey Ben, nice shot - my 110 in action during the Oregon Discovery Trail in 07.

Good to hear from you again; is Oregon Discovery Trail in your cards next year; hope it's in mine and hope to see you there!

Here's one of my favorite pictures on the Oregon Dunes you took during the 08 trip.

Shifting gears, have you heard from Ro? Understand he is now in Australia; any updates? If you are in contact w/him, tell him his friends in the West Coast would be interested in an Outback Adventure in Australia. Plan it and we will come. :smiley_drive:

Ron! Ben took a great photo of your truck. That is great.

Hey Jason, howdie! Are you interested in joining our trip in 2010 (more than welcome to be my guest), or wanting to do your own trip planning?

If the later, we bought our maps/routes from this site: http://www.oohva.org/Back Country/BCDRmain.html and I am sure Ben and others here (Steven was involved in the initial planning) can give you tips/trip planning advice.

And since 07 (been annual run for my LR clulb in N. Cal), we tried most routes and sections.

This year 09 run (I missed it/could not get the time-off), the route taken was parts of Route 3 South (blue line), Route 2 (light blue) - see below.

STATE%20MAP%20BCDR.jpg

The group camped overnight @ Cave Lake, and on Day 1 (next morning) met the rest of group @ Cave Lake Campground (about six miles from US-395 just south of the Oregon/California border) and started the adventure. Then went from Cave Lake to Cave Lake to Thomas Creek

Day 2 - Thomas Creek to Harvey Flat e.g. checked out Slide Mountain, Winter Ridge...

Day 3 - Harvey Flat to Green Mountain e.g. checked out Fremont Point overlook, view Summer Lake...

Day 4 - Green Mountain to Glass Buttes e.g. checked out Crack in the Ground, visited the Oregon Dunes...

The trip ended at a camp in the Glass Buttes; next day group parted ways and ea headed back home (at this point, the group is about 80 miles east of Bend, OR or 580 miles from the SF Bay area).

Let me know if you have other Qs. C yah! :smiley_drive:

Jason would be a great addition to the group.

I hope I can join you guys again this year, if you go. I also hope I can bring the '65... but.... you know how that can go! Otherwise, I can just be careful with bringing the '04.

As it gets closer to May, I'll be checking in on the NCLR site to see if you guys are planning anything.

Jason, we should meet in Pendleton some time and go south from there, there is a LOT to see in that country.

Also, yes, Ro is in Australia again. He is on Facebook, so I can contact him. He currently has a Tdi Eurovan camper that he tools around in. I think he also has his dad's old Series I that is being restored. I too would like to visit some time, but I have no idea when that would happen.

Oregon!

Ron - do we have a date set for the 2010 Oregon trip set up yet? I have been involved in the planning but new babies:chef:, new jobs, etc., have always kept me from attending. I am hoping that Suzi lets me out of the house for the 2010 trip! Plus Nate is now producing front radius arms so I am keen to try out a pair long distance with my new springs.

Also, any idea on what route we will take the next trip?
