OK, we can play the forum link game, just do a search on Ih8mud and you will find plenty of posts where he makes claim about the 100 being just as good as the 80 in the rocks. Just look at how many posts he has made about 100's making it up some waterfall that no 80 could make. Come on, that could be as much driver skill as anything else. And save the random 5% number that he is throwing out-that number was just plucked from the sky.
I'm all for supporting the 100, just keep it realistic. If 100's came with lockers and a solid axle they would be unstoppable.
Anyways, sorry to the OP as this thread is getting epic and way off course, just like many of the thread on Ih8mud that Shotts has been involved in.

I just love it when certain folks mis-quote, mis-remember, or pretend to mis-remember.
Oh, and here's the insane line/waterfall that the 100 went up. Oh, and two of my 80 buddies have went up as well (and my 80's also). They are both on my website...good thing I never said 80's can't make it on MUD. What I said is almost EVERYONE will not try it. I know of a handful now who have even tried it in an 80. No other 100's. LOVE IT! :coffeedrink:

Henry...not sure if your still paying attention to this thread after the "whose rig is the better wheeler" battle, but...
Don't make the mistake I did investing time, money and sentiment in a rig that is too small. I am not sure how many kids you have when you say "family", but don't be a dumb @$$ like me and forget that they grow up.
I can't speak for the 4th gen runner, but if you haven't seen my thread on my heartbreaking switch to the LC, here it is.

I bought my LC on Monday of this week...someday I hope it to be as modified as my runner is...but that takes time and money.
I have yet to experience my LC other than driving it home, but if I only had two kids, I would have kept my runner for the long haul. It is such a great, nimble rig for Colorado Trails. It will take thousands of dollars and lots of hours of work, before my LC will win my love away from my runner.
I find it interesting that you seem to be questioning the same thing I was. Let us know what you end up doing.

I have owned neither a Land Cruiser or a 4Runner. I would keep the 4Runner in this scenario, because
1) I already own the darned thing
2 It's got way less miles
3) A little investment of a small lift, skidplates, sliders and good tires and it'll go almost anywhere I'd be brave enough to drive it.
