Help me build my Overland 4Runner

Cool, I'll get a build thread started next week...if you have any advice or suggestions as I go along, please feel free to chime in! The more the merrier.
One reason I am deleting the XREAS is the truck has a noticable lean to the passenger side, and I fear with the miles on it, the shocks would need a rebuild, and that gets expensive, from what I've been reading. So, why not go with something better that fits my needs more appropriately?

Yeah, i think I read like $1400 just in the struts and shocks?? Yikes! Sounds like we can piggyback each other, although I will just go Bilsteins if I do eliminate it, as Icons are overkill for my needs. The XREAS system seems fine on mine at 130k. No lean etc. My truck has lived a pretty easy life though. I got full service records on it from Toyota going all the way back to brand new. Its just the undercarriage rust that will kill me.

Cool... it's reassuring to have records that document your vehicle. I have a good list of the services that mine received as well. Made buying it easier. I'm happy, and the first wave of parts arrive later today! Yippee! I wonder if there is a market for a used XREAS system?

I have an 03 4Runner that I have been building and I replaced my stock suspension a little over a year ago. My only advice when removing RAS/XREAS is to wear some nitrile gloves or something and have plenty of paper towels. There should be lines attached to the shocks and these lines have hydraulic fluid in them. Once you remove them it gets everywhere haha. Wear some clothes you don't care about!

Billies are a good choice too. I put the 5100s with Toytec springs in and they are great.

Good advice. I havent done a ton of reading as I havent committed to it yet but it sounds like there are "Breaks" built into the lines that are your points to disconnect and drain the system. This avoids a massive high pressure spray at the shock line mount.

Yes, there is a correct way to disassemble the system. I saw a YouTube video a few months ago detailing the removal process. I'll have to search for it again and refresh my memory before I tackle the removal next week.

Good detailed vid, this guy just disconnects at the shock.

Easiest way to remove XREAS...

All 4 wheels in the air.
Hold the first nut, closest to the fluid cylinder.
Turn the second (valve) to disconnect, minimal drip if at all.
Remove the shock with the line attached and discard.
Leave the tank on the frame rail if desired.
No mess.

I did start a build thread on another site. I don't know the protocol of posting links, etc. If I can't post a link I guess I have to duplicate the thread over here too!
