Help Me ID my Trailer!?

Hello everyone!

Last year I bought a 1946 Willys trailer off CL and dragged it home to Oregon from the CA bay area. The "1946' and "Willys" designations were from the PO in the CL ad:

What I do know:
1. There are no grab handles
2. Fenders have been replaced (and are not round)
3. I believe it has 3 tie downs on each side (trailer is currently at friend's shop for fab work)
4. New axle
5. No data plate.
6. Repainted (but lots of layers)

Crossmembers:

Trailer came with aftermarket tires and rims, a lid, and some minor modifications.

California title says
Vehicle ID number: CA872750
Make: WILLY

I bought a new data plate and would like to punch on the correct manufacturer, year, and other info.

Any help appreciated!

Scott

It could be a WWII Bantam T3 or a Willys MBT. There are other possibilities, including a post-war Bantam T3-C civilian trailer, but your photos are too small to see the necessary detail.

As for the year, it will be nearly impossible to determine without an original unmolested data plate or an ACM number, which will take some disassembly to locate if it is still there - it would be beneath the gusset below the left front spring hangar. If one exists, it may be possible to date your trailer because a gentleman named Chuck Lutz has compiled a database of ACM numbers and correlated them with date of manufacture

Example of ACM:

See this discussion of ACM numbers and trailer identifying features: http://jeepdraw.com/Chucks_Trailers.html

That should get you started.

Awesome, thanks!!!! I'll check out the frame number when I have the trailer back and can pull the hanger off.
