Hello everyone,
I've been a lurker here for awhile. I thought this might be a good section to post this design I came up with for carrying extra fuel. It's a 12" receiver hitch extention that has arms that can fold down if needed for swing gate access. Hopefully this will come in handy for the fabricators out there.

This does reduce the towing capacity due to the longer lever arm and 'flex' due to the extention - but I've had no issues with years of towing my Taos pop-up nor my 5'x8' utility trailer when loaded. I'm assuming that most adventure type trailers remain fairly light so it wouldn't be an issue.
The design is based on an '02 Jeep Liberty as the platform, but it could easily be modified for other vehicles. I include .pdf's of the plans - but they are small. I can email copies if you want. The email address is now:

Thanks!
Todd
