HJ45 Engine Issues

I don't know what you will be hauling in your rig, but if it is not an enormous amount of weight, I would also consider the 13BT. It is a 3.4 liter td. It has a better rep than the 12HT. The 12HT has had a problem with crank bearing failures. I have never heard of the more industrial based 3B or 13BT (3B + T)
having any issues. They put out good power too when turbocharged. As a bonus the 3B has a ton of parts support in canada.

All of the mentions of a new engine are also excellent recommendations. A 2H is actually not that hard to find and they are leaps and bounds over a H and bolt in. But I read your comments on this so of course I totally understand for now. But it is something you may want to consider. That said a nice mild turbo (just a homebrew of some sort) would help considerably and you wouldn't have much to lose... We've done a home brew turbo in a weekend before, they really are not hard but take a little fab.. Hope it helps, Andre
