Nice truck. I love mine! Be aware that Dodge does not recommend bolting onto the new frame. If you must, they recommend drilling through and using a sleeve to prevent potentially crushing the frame. The fifth wheel hitches use a fastening method that wraps itself around the frame. A custom shop should be able to work out a set of rails that fasten in this manner. You'd think a company would have some that fasten in this manner, but I'm not aware of one. Dodge has updated their software to enable a "passive" regen so you no longer have to "drive it like you stole it" to clear out the soot. If the six speed auto would have been offered my year I would have ordered it.

Geneva Boxes

Somehow I found the box company I was thinking of... Man, I LOVE Google!!! Geneva truck boxes is the only manufacturer that I have found with a rear opening box with multiple shelves. I'm hoping that with the toolbox windoor on the drivers side, I can incorporate this truck box over the fender well, and create a vertical wall.

Willman... I would love a pop-up camper, but the fact that this is a work and family truck 24/7, I needed something that I can load 48" wide materials in, and not worry about jarring things around. Oh, and I hunt and fish with 2 yellow labs that love to roll in anything that's dead! Not to mention the temperature and precipitation extremes we experience here daily!:REOutIceFishing: I've seen quite a few soft-sided campers, but haven't gotten good feedback from real users up here.

I have a feeling I will be upgrading to a pop-up in the near future when the kids get a bit older.

Regcab-- Is that the J35 flash I have been reading about??? I've got an appointment at the dealer on Tuesday for a couple recalls and a reflash. I'll be adding a smarty, intake, and exhaust work this summer. Hopefully they have the new program written by then. If not bolting to the frame, what about welding to it? Sounds more and more that the n-fabs would workout fine. Not a whole lot of rock climbing in the great white north anyways.

I've heard of X-mas in July...

But I've never heard of Christmas in May! I just had my ARE MX topper, N-fab nerf bars, and Bushwacker Extend-a-Flares installed!!!:wings:

What a Difference!!!

I am Loving the new topper! The windoors are super functional, and get a lot of attention. The tool box is a bit deeper than I would have liked, but the extra storage is a great addition to the truck. I had envisioned the tool box being plumb with the wheel well inside, giving me a true 48" wide area all the way to the ceiling. Not gonna happen.

To tell the truth, I still jump in and out of the truck without using the steps. At 6'1", I don't have a problem getting in and out without a step, but I was informed very quickly by the wifey that steps are required!:violent-smiley-031:

While it was in the shop, I had a Revtek leveling kit installed. The local Pizza Hut called asking if I wanted to make some money with my pizza cutters! lol!

I also just received a Smarty jr programmer and got it installed into the truck. So far, the throttle response is out of this world! I'll put more feedback on this as I learn more of its capabilities.

I'll be getting out of town this week, and hope to upload a few more photos soon that aren't poserish!

More to Come!!!

(Best Zombie Voice) NNNNNnnnnggggghhhhh!!!!

Back from the dead--- That old saying-- "Projects come down to time and money, you either have time for a project, or money to buy the parts. Never both." I got some bogus info that the exhaust from a 2006 quad cab would "Bolt Right Up" to my 6.7L, so I found a straight exhaust from a 5.9L turbo back, H&S EGR and cooler delete, and Smarty Jr ME, and had them in the pile for about 6 months!!! I kept telling myself I would get a chance to install it all on a nice summer day... but who wants to crawl under a truck when you have a record-breaking number of salmon running in the river??? Not this guy!

So I found a local shop willing to do deletes, and performance diesel work, and low and behold--my bargain exhaust doesn't match up. Big surprise, right? The more I thought about it, the more it makes sense. Dodge changed EVERYTHING that year. Block, turbo, fuel transfer pump, etc. Why on Earth would the exhausts match up????

Short story is, I learned a lesson, paid to have it installed, torn out, then a delete pipe installed. Grrrrrrr.

The point is- I got my deletes done, the truck is running like a champ, sounds better, and is getting much better mpgs. I haven't filled it yet, and overhead computer still says 13.5mpg (yuck), but one tank lasted more than a week!!!:wings:

Pics to Follow! The pile of parts in the bed is ridiculous!

New power towing mirrors and Power Wagon skids to come next. This truck puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel!!! Only my Scout II and VW bug did that!!!

You're already ahead of me, Loco--

I already have buyers remorse with this truck... If I had bought a 5.9L, I wouldn't have had to put money into my motor just to free up the breathing-- However, if I hadn't "HAD" to do these mods, I never would have gotten a Smarty so quickly. To the diesel guys along for this thread-- I want to get gauges in a pillar pod, but not sure how many to get. I figure gauges are like insurance-- they're only worth the money if you need them. I am a tallish guy, so I don't use my s@&t handle much when getting in. I usually grab the steering wheel. I had been eyeballing the single gauge srt-10 pod with the handle still there. They have a combo gauge available for EGT & Boost, but doesn't look too easy to read. Autometer has the factory match gauge that I like the looks of. I think EGT is a more critical gauge to add, as I tow for both work and play.

Any input from the Peanut Gallery??? Thanks for the comments. I really do love this rig. It will only get better with a steering brace, skids, and tires.

for gauges you cant beat the edge insight. it will keep track of more engine parameteres then you can shake a stick at.

and its compact with the pillatr pod and you dont lose any visibility like a 3 gauge pillar pod.

ive had the pillar pods on 3 different trucks. my last one I put the insight on. I have not looked back
