Holy Overpriced Tacoma Storage Solution!

I have been looking for some bed-with-topper storage solutions for my 05 Tacoma. The Toyota web site has the PERFECT thing - attaches to the rail system and would fit perfectly over the wheel wells. JUST WHAT I WANT!

The $357.00 price of admission fails the litmus test of reality, however.

Have any of you seen this for less, or something similar?

All those accessories are heinously overpriced. Outrageous.

I had to bite the bullet and buy the large toolbox ($400 at the time) because it was the only thing available that would fit and attach to the rail system at the time.

There are probably other options now, or, for less than $357, you could have a custom aluminum box fabbed up that would probably be even better that that one.

Those look great. I would get some if they made them for the 2003's. I like the swing out idea.

You might use the 'tool' on their website that takes the truck info and then tells what is available.

What would you consider a more reasonable price for that box? Is the price you quoted from one of the "discount" dealers like TRDParts4u? IIRC, 25-30% off is not that hard to get on parts. IDK if accessories count.

I'm not criticizing, BTW. I agree the price is way high for what you get. I'm just wondering if an accessory like this can be had at a reasonable discount.

No affiliation, just googled it to see what others were charging for the same item.

i could be wrong, but that small toyota box doesn't look compatible with a cap. it sits over the bed rail, and is vertical. most caps need utilize the full width of the bed rail and also start to cant inwards to follow the lines of the back of the cab.
