How bad of an idea is this?

Sounds like a major undertaking for 4 or 5 minutes once a day in the morning? Simpler to just drink one of those double caffeine drinks and be on your way.

Ohhhhhh nooooooooo! That would never cut it in our truck. Wife gets a double shot cappuccino from immediately ground beans, shots pulled via Breville Bambino Plus (all manual settings), 8 oz manually steamed milk all before she leaves the bed. Have I spoiled her? Definitely - but she’s let me buy two EarthCruisers in the last 8 years so custom coffee in the morning is a small price to pay!

I've been thinking about this all wrong. This isn't a problem, it is an opportunity! :)

I think I will run off the warn solenoid after all, but run it to an anderson all the way back on the rear bumper that I can use for a hitch mounted winch some day. I'm never going to make coffee without the rear open and planned on a disconnect back there anyway, so I'll just plug the cable into the bumper instead of a cable hanging inside. energize and brew.

Now I need to shop for hitch mounted winch plates

Two EarthCruisers? No wonder you two are a rolling Starbucks. Glad you're having fun out there.

Definitely having fun, but a Rolling Starbucks we aren’t - much, much better coffee than Starbucks!

First EC in 2014 drove for 4 years, sold and purchased second Which we’re in now. Our daily driver is 22 years old - we spend a lot on a few things that matter to us!

So do the cultural overlanding theme, forget about brewing yer own and stop at every specialty coffee place you pass.

But you are from California, there must be 100 RV places close to home who could resolve the issue in a day.
Once they figure it out, tell us what they did.

If I'm really jonesing for caffeine but too lazy to fix the Bialetti, I just heat a pot of water and toss in two Starbucks instant packets. I'm really more of a cold tea when wheeling. Far less hassle and refreshing too.

Seems a little bit like using a sledgehammer to swat a fly. There are any number of solutions for espresso that use propane (or some other flammable gas) as a heat source, which is much more efficient.

Using DC electrical power to produce heat is a huge waste of energy.

They don't have a propane or dual-fuel Nespresso machines....yet. I already have the battery and I generate the DC power on my way to camp, so I'm not sure how anything could be more efficient.
