How do you carry your Thetford portable toilet?

I recently acquired a Thetford Curve model portable toilet to haul with my So Cal teardrop. I searched these camping forums for any mention of how folks carry their Thetfords and came up empty. I will be carrying the toilet in the outside cargo area on the tongue of the trailer so I've been looking online for a suitable storage tote bin that would fit the toilet and withstand riding outside. I've only found ones that are way too large e.g. twice the length needed if the width and height were good. Haven't found the one with a good fit yet.

Anyone found a great storage/traveling solution for one of these portable toilets?

I am experimenting for a good spot in my rig, and in the pic below it is secured with a Bihlerflex Perfect Bungie.
I may move it though in front of the chuckbox strapped to an Alu-Box, will be doing some more testing next weekend.

You can really carry it any where it will fit, as long as it is secured properly. In your case, I would just build a box out of 1/2" plywood, paint or seal it good. Put some tie downs on it & call it done. I fill the fresh water part of it before we leave.

We have one (for 20 yrs now) & it has worked awesome. But.....there are rules. 1) NEVER, EVER put in vehicle with waste in it. 2) ALWAYS clean & sterilize/disinfect before travel- if stored inside vehicle. I use the blue RV waste water treatment stuff in the waste tank. I bring a spray bottle of Spray-Nine & a pair of disposable gloves with us to disinfect & clean. Family will thank you for that. I have heard horror stories. I did NOT want to be THAT guy !!! LOL

We carry ours inside the van, inside a custom cabinet. We fill the flush tank before we leave and carry it in various states of "full" inside the van for days at a time with zero issues. It gets emptied/sanitized once we're back at home.

I keep it in the back of the trailer...set it up next to the shower box in the enclosed Foxwing when it's just me or the mrscure shower.jpg. I also carry a potty tent if someone is staying under the Foxwing. Pretty much treat it as the others, empty and sanitize it when you get home. You can also dump it in any toilet (gas station, rest area, etc.)....very carefully :poop:

Strapped down in our ATC camper, couple of footman loops on either side works well no problems.
They can be very heavy don't fill to top with H2O any more have read can use grey water. I try to limit myself peeing in it and that helps a lot . Also try to empty at 1/2 or less if possible just easier. Don't use some chemicals as they have formaldehyde, I think and bad for pit toilets. Keeping it clean is a asset as mentioned above.

My Pleasureway Traverse came with a little bellows porta-potti. It's stowed under the sink. For a few years I couldn't abide that and kept it stowed in the back of the van under the sofabed. Then, one day, I had an immediate need and the toilet was stowed in the back, out of immediate reach. Since then, I've gotten over stowing under the sink.

I have used all sorts of portable toilets and I'm happy to day I've gone back to the 5 gallon bucket, a trash bag, and a toilet seat cover. What convinced me was scented kitty litter! Using kitty litter that clumps up is the way to go. No smell, no leakage, just tie up the trash bag and throw away. Much much easier.
