We like ice cream on our trips too. How about doing as we do and make it? We do ziplock baggie ice cream.
There are many recipes out there: Homemade Icecream , Ice cream in a baggie , Zip loc ice cream
We carry a cooler for drinks and fill it with cubed ice for this treat. Our method is different than the recipes above in that we keep the dry ingredidnts in our camp box all the time. I picked up some ice cream mix in assorted flavors when I found it onsale at Kmart. We just add powdered milk and water. Put in a quart ziplock baggie. Drop that into a gallon baggie filled with ice cubes and rock salt. Put on your gloves and play catch for a while. The kids love it! Quite a treat to have homemade icecream in the desert, for dessert.

The perfect camping treat. Here's how it works. Gather the ingredients:
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
* 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
* 6 tablespoons salt (rock salt is best)
Put the milk, vanilla and sugar in a zip lock freezer bag. Put ice and salt into another zip lock freezer bag and drop the sealed bag with ingredients in and shake for 10 minutes. Bam. Ice cream. Kids will love it.
